The next morning, Kelly called Caleb sick. Sylvie and Stella had an appointment with their gynecologist and Matt took the kids to school and then took Hayden to the mall to run some errands. Kelly was in the kitchen washing up when his cell phone rang.
Video call between Kelly and his mom: "Hey Mom." Kelly greeted. “Hey my big. How are you guys?" Jennifer asked. "It used to be better, but that's another story. How are you?" Kelly asked. "I'm doing well. But now tell me. What's going on with you guys?" Jennifer asked. “Oh, it's about Caleb. He's changed since yesterday.” Kelly said. "How?" Jennifer asked. "He avoided us all day yesterday and didn't eat anything either. I called him in sick today." Kelly said. "Is he here?" Jennifer asked. "Yeah, he's been locked in his room since last night and hasn't come out." Kelly said. "Listen. You know you can call anytime if you need help." Jennifer smiled. “Yes, I know and we are very grateful to you for that. But now something different. How's Katie?" Kelly asked. "She feels quite good. That's the real reason I'm calling. Katie would like to come visit you next week and tell you something." Jennifer said. “Okay, sure. She should just give me a quick call ahead of time." Kelly said. "I will let her know. How are Stella and Sylvie?" Jennifer asked. "Good. They're at the gynecologist now and Matt's running some errands with Hayden." Kelly said. "How's it going with the four boys?" Jennifer asked. "It's going really well. You're going to love them." Kelly said. "Your dad would be so proud of you." Jennifer said. “In situations like this I sometimes wish he were still here. He'd know what to do." Kelly said. Suddenly he could hear Lydia's babble coming from the baby monitor. “Oh, Mom, I have to go. I think Lydia's awake." Kelly said. "Ok, say hello to the rest and Kelly...I'm proud of you." Jennifer said. "Thanks mom. I love you." Kelly said. "I love you too." Jennifer said.
Kelly hung up and went upstairs to check on Lydia. “Well, my little one. Are you hungry?" Kelly asked. Lydia smiled at him and wrapped her arms around his neck. "I'll take that as a yes." Kelly smiled, changed her diapers, put her in a dress, and took her downstairs. He sat her in the high chair and gave her some baby biscuits. "We're back." Stella called. "We're in the kitchen." Kelly called, putting a bottle down for Lydia. "Mama." Lydia said, holding out her arms as Stella walked into the kitchen. “Hey my sweetie.” Stella said and gave her a kiss. "How's Caleb?" Sylvie asked. "He hasn't come out of his room yet." Kelly said. "When is your appointment with Dr. Charles?” Sylvie asked. "At 2:30." Kelly said. "Shall I try to talk to him?" Stella asked. “It's no use. He blocks completely every time.” Kelly said. Then they heard footsteps and a few seconds later Caleb came into the kitchen. "Kiki." Lydia said excitedly. Ignoring everyone, Caleb went to the fridge, grabbed a water and went back upstairs. "If he's ignoring even Lydia now, it must be something serious." Stella said. "I'll call Daniel and ask him if we can come earlier." Kelly said. "We're home." Matt called. "We're in the kitchen." Sylvie said. "Unc." Lydia said, holding out her arms. “Hey, sweetie." Matt said. “Okay...thanks Daniel. I'll see if I can come over with him right away. Yes, see you later." Kelly said and hung up. "And? What did he say?" Stella asked. "What's going on?" Matt asked. “Caleb is getting us more and more worried. I can come over with him now." Kelly said. "He still locked himself in?" Matt asked. "He was downstairs for a moment, but ignored every one of us. He even walked right past Lydia." Kelly said. “What amazes me is that it all happened from one day to the next. I mean, on Sunday everything was fine and yesterday morning he suddenly became unresponsive and completely withdrew." Matt said. Kelly shrugged, went upstairs and knocked on Caleb's door. When he entered the room, Caleb was lying in his bed crying. "Hey, what's up?" Kelly asked concerned. Caleb crawled under his covers. «K, listen to me. We can go to Dr. Charles. He's expecting us." Kelly said. "I'm not a psycho." Caleb said from under his covers. "Nobody says that either, but sometimes it's good to talk to an outsider about your problems." Kelly said. "And you won't get mad if I talk about it to someone else?" Caleb asked, coming out from under the covers. "No of course not. In fact, I'd be glad if you talked to anyone about it. I just want you to be who you were on Sunday." Kelly said, wiping the tears off his face. "You still have to come." Caleb said. "Of course. I won't leave your side." Kelly smiled and hugged him. The two went downstairs, got ready, and then drove to the Med.
