The test result arrived a few days later. After breakfast they brought the little ones to the Herrmann's and then drove together to the family court. "Good morning." Mr. Miller greeted. "Good morning." Kelly said. "Today it will be very quick. We will know the test result and then the judge would like to have a quick chat with Caleb again." Mr. Miller explained. "If I never have to see Mom again after that, then fine." Caleb said. Stella, Matt and Sylvie sat in the back row while Caleb sat in the front row. "Good morning, all. I ordered you all here today because the paternity test result is in. Also, I'd like to speak to Caleb for a second." the judge explained. The tension was palpable as the judge opened the envelope containing the results. "All right then. We hereby confirm that the DNA sample from Mr. Kelly Severide corresponds 100%. Paternity is hereby officially confirmed." the judge announced. The relief was great. The judge asked Caleb a few more questions and then retired with his team for deliberation. Caleb fidgeted with his fingers nervously. After a few minutes they finally came back. "So, we've consulted and for all we know, it's best for everyone if Caleb stays with his father. That concludes the hearing." the judge said. Caleb was relieved that this nightmare was finally over and that he could stay with his father and family. "You won't get away with this. He's my son and I'm going to get him back." Renee said and left the courtroom with her lawyer. When Kelly and Mr. Miller left the courtroom, Matt, Sylvie, Stella, and Caleb were waiting in the hallway. "Dad." Caleb said, hugging Kelly. "Hey, it's over." Kelly said, kissing his head. "It's always nice to know you could help." Mr. Miller smiled. "Yes, thank you for everything." Kelly said, shaking Mr. Miller's hand. "At any time. I have to go now I have another appointment today. I wish you all the best." Mr. Miller said and left. "So, what do we do now?" Sylvie asked. "I'm hungry." Caleb said. "I could eat something, too." Stella said. "I'll call Cindy and see how they are." Matt said. On the way out, Matt spoke to Cindy on the phone. "All right then, see you later... Fine, they're cooking their own lunch. I told Cindy we'll pick up the little ones at around 2pm." Matt informed the others. "Can we go to the Hollywood Grill? I'm in the mood for a wrap right now." Caleb said. "Well, then I'd say all aboard." Kelly said. Arriving at the Hollywood Grill, they went in and sat at an empty table. A waitress brought them the menu cards and took the drink orders. Caleb ordered a sunset wrap and a milkshake for dessert. After lunch they drove to the Herrmann's, picked up the little ones and drove to the park. "Dad, we really need a new...ouch...car." Caleb said as the little ones squeezed past him and Matty stood on his foot. Lydia laughed next to him. "Well, at least one of us is having fun." Caleb said, unbuckling her and lifting her out of the infant carrier. Stella picked Lydia up and Kelly let the two puppies out of the trunk. Caleb got his soccer ball out of the trunk and joined the little ones. Stella spread out a blanket and they sat on it with Lydia. Caleb played soccer with the little ones and taught them a few tricks, or at least he tried. Suddenly Caleb got nervous. "What's happening? Don't you want to play anymore?" Kayla asked. "Mhmm, sure, but I need a little break." Caleb said, taking the ball. "Okay. Then we'll go to the playground." Layla said. "We also want to go to the playground." Benjamin and Matty said. "You can go to the playground, but later." Caleb said. "But we want to go now." Benjamin said. "Come on, Mom and Dad will definitely let us go to the playground." Layla said and the kids ran to their parents. "Mommy, Kayab says we can't go to the playground." Matty said. "Why?" Sylvie asked. The little ones just shrugged their shoulders. "He suddenly didn't feel like playing soccer anymore." Kayla said. "Yeah, he said he needed a break." Benjamin added. "With your energy, that's no wonder." Stella laughed. "I'll talk to him." Kelly said, walking over to his eldest son. Caleb juggled the ball and kept glancing nervously at the playground. "Hey, what's up? Why are you forbidding the little ones to go to the playground?" Kelly asked a little sternly. "Stand in front of me and look discreetly at the playground...See the man by the swings? That's the guy who was bothering me." Caleb said. Kelly risked a look at the playground. The man stood by the swings and looked in their direction. "All right, we'll go to the others and I'll call Voight." Kelly said. Caleb nodded and the two walked back to the others. Caleb sat on the blanket and Lydia crawled into his lap while Spiky and Filou lunged for the ball. Kelly briefly explained to the others what's going on and then called Voight.
When Adam and Kim arrived a few minutes later, Caleb told them what was going on. Adam wanted to go to the playground and talk to the man, but when he saw Adam, he ran away. Adam ran after him and was able to grab him in time before he could get on a bus. At the station, Adam and Voight questioned the man while Caleb and Kelly watched with Kim and Jay in the next room. "We did a little bit of research on the guy. His name is Jack Reynolds, he's 45 years old and lives on West Side Street." Jay said. "Westside?! Is he a gang member?" Kelly asked. "No, but..." Jay said. "But what?" Caleb asked. Jay and Kim looked at each other and Kim pulled a photo out of her jacket pocket. "But his son was shot dead in the street by a member of the Four Corner Hustlers. Apparently, it was a gang war with a rival gang and his son got caught in the line of fire." Kim explained. "And what does all this have to do with me?" Caleb asked. "His son was your age and he looked a hell of a lot like you." Kim said, showing him the photo. After everything was settled, Kelly and Caleb went back to the others in the park. The little ones were now playing on the playground, Lydia watched the butterflies flying around and Spiky and Filou attacked each other. "Hey, and what did the guy want?" Stella asked. "As it turned out, nothing. His son was caught in a two-gang shootout and shot dead. He was my age and I guess I looked a lot like him. The man must have recognized me as his son." Caleb explained.
