"Hey Caleb. Are you okay?" Maggie asked when Caleb walked into the ER. "Yes, yourself?" Caleb asked. "You know it. An emergency here, an emergency there. It's such a struggle." Maggie said. "You mean you're busy?" Caleb asked. "I'd rather not answer that question if you know what I mean." Maggie said and winked at him. "All right." Caleb laughed. "How's Auggie?" Caleb asked. "Quite well. He's settled in well with his new family and seems happy." Maggie said. "That's nice to hear. We miss him." Caleb said. "Us as well. But now to you. Excited to meet your sisters already? Maggie asked. "Sorry...my what?" Caleb asked in surprise. "I don't think he knew the gender of the twins yet." Nurse Trini said. "Right. Your parents told me not to tell you anything." Maggie said. "Don't worry, I'm trying to act surprised." Caleb said, pushing the elevator button. "Yes please, your parents will rip my head off. They specifically told me not to tell you anything." Maggie said guiltily. "Well, you can also look at it that way, then you have one more emergency." Caleb joked and escaped into the elevator. Once at the top, he looked for Stella's room. "Caleb, hey. Are you okay?' Will asked. "Yes, everything alright. With you?" Caleb asked, giving him a friendly handshake. "So far, all good. We're busy right now, but you know it." Will said. "Maggie told me that, too." Caleb said. Will walked him to the door of the room. "Hey, I heard you quit soccer, right?" Will asked. "Yes. It was all just too much for me and anyway I just sat on the substitutes bench and watched." Caleb said. "I understand that. But hey. You look a lot better than you did a few months ago. I think it's good for you to be able to go home after school and just do nothing but do your homework, of course." Will said. "Yes. I also hung out with my friends a lot. That was good, too." Caleb said. They stopped in front of a room door. "So, here we are." Will said. Caleb looked at the door. "You, okay?" Will asked. "I don't know. Why am I suddenly so nervous again?" Caleb asked. "Hey, the 3 are fine. You really don't need to worry." Will said. Caleb leaned against the door. "Hey Caleb, are you okay?" April asked, coming out of one of the rooms. Caleb was about to push off the door when it suddenly opened. Caleb lost his balance and fell backwards into the room. "Hey. Are you okay?" Kelly asked. "Yes, I'm fine. And I know I have 2 sisters now." Caleb said and Kelly helped him up. "Maggie?" Kelly asked. Caleb grinned at him. "Are you okay Caleb? You suddenly disappeared." April said. "Yes, everything alright. Just landed a little hard." Caleb said, rubbing his tailbone. "Good. We'll leave you alone." Will said and Kelly closed the door. "Hey Caleb." Stella said. Caleb put his school bag on one of the chairs and hugged his mom. "How was the skater park?" Stella asked. "Really great...here." Caleb said, showing her the photo. "And who exactly is that?" Stella asked, handing the phone back to him. "This is Tony Hawk. One of the most successful skateboarders of all time." Caleb said. "Glad you had fun." Stella smiled. Caleb stood in front of his sisters' cribs and wondered which ones to hug first. "What's their name?" Caleb asked, hugging the taller of the two. "Oakley Lila and Crystal Mea. Oakley is the one you're holding." Stella said. «Okay you two, let me get one thing straight. Don't mess with me, otherwise you'll be on the list for a lifetime of cuddles really quick." Caleb said, kissing her gently and sitting on the bed. "It's always sweet to see you taking care of the little ones." Stella said. "How was school anyway?" Kelly asked. Caleb put Oakley back in the crib and scratched his head. "What is? Did something happen?" Kelly asked. "Sort of." Caleb said. "What happened?" Stella asked. "I was called into the principal's office today." Caleb said. "Oh no. What have you done?" Kelly asked. "Nothing at all. Turns out they wanted to talk to me about something else." Caleb said. "About what?" Kelly asked. Caleb took the student files out of his school bag and sat on the bed. "Since Friday there have been 2 new students from Brazil at our school. Both of them have lost their parents and fled here all by themselves and are now living here with a foster family." Caleb said. "So, what are you going to do now?" Stella asked. "Well, since I'm gifted with languages and I get along well with younger people, they want me to take care of them a little. I'm supposed to support them in their school life and help them with their homework." Caleb said. "They couldn't have asked for a better one." Stella smiled. «Thanks... Here, look. These are the two." Caleb said, showing them the student profiles. Caleb stayed in the hospital with his parents and sisters for about 2 hours.
At home, he was greeted by an exhilarated Benjamin. "Kayab, Kayab. We have 2 sisters." Benjamin said excitedly and hugged his big brother. "I know and you know what that means, right?" Caleb asked. "No." Benjamin said, shaking his head. "It means the two of us are now outnumbered and must always stick together." Caleb said. "Okay." Benjamin said. The two walked into the living room and Caleb flopped down on the couch. "Tired?" Matt asked. "Mhmm." Caleb said. "We saved you some from dinner, you just have to warm it up. The plate's already in the microwave." Matt said. "Thanks." Caleb said, walking into the kitchen. "Where are Aunt Sylvie and the girls?" Caleb asked. "Upstairs in our room." Matt said. "Then I'll go say hello." Caleb said, heading upstairs. He knocked on the door of the room and entered. "Hey Caleb. How was it in the hospital?" Sylvie asked. "Great. They're both really cute." Caleb said. "They are." Sylvie said. "We got to hold them both." Layla said. "So how did it feel?" Caleb asked. "It was so cool. They both slept the whole time." Kayla said. "It's the norm with babies, speaking of babies, I see there's another baby sleeping." Caleb said. "Yes, Lydia just fell asleep." Sylvie said and stroked her hair. "How was school?" Sylvie asked. "Good. I had to see the principal today." Caleb said. "What have you done?" Sylvie asked. "Nothing at all. For real. They want me to give the two new students a little support with their school life and help them with their homework." Caleb said. "That's sweet of you." Sylvie said. "Are we going to have any more siblings now?" Layla asked. "No. The two live in a foster family. I'll just support them both in school and give them a little help." Caleb explained. "Oh, okay." Layla said. "I'll leave you alone then. I'll probably have to reheat my dinner." Caleb said and left the room. "Uncle Matt. Can I talk to you for a minute?" Caleb asked. "Yes of course. What's it about?" Matt asked. "Something that happened at school." Caleb said. "Okay." Matt said, walking into the kitchen with him. "What's it about?" Matt asked. "We have 2 new students at our school since Friday and Mr. White and Mr. Chen have now asked me to take care of them a bit and help them with their homework." Caleb explained. "That's great." Matt said. "Yeah, I just wanted to let you know because I can get home from school a little late at times." Caleb said. "It's good. Does anyone else know about it?' Matt asked. "Yes. I told Mom and Dad at the hospital and Aunt Sylvie just now." Caleb said. "You're going to be a great mentor to both of them." Matt smiled. "I'm not 100% committed yet. I wanted to tell you guys first." Caleb said. "Dad, you have to see this." Andrew said, coming into the kitchen. "What's going on?" Matt asked. "Just come with me." Andrew said. Caleb and Matt followed him into the living room. In the living room, Benjamin, Levi, Matty and Hayden were curled up on the couch and asleep. "Who will help me put the 4 to bed?" Matt asked. "Are you still asking?" Julian asked. Caleb snapped a photo and sent it to his dad. Then everyone took one in their arms and went upstairs. Then Andrew and Julian finished watching the film and Caleb warmed up his dinner for the second time. Matt and Andrew carried Lydia's crib to Matt and Sylvie's room and Matt put Lydia in the crib. After dinner, Caleb went to his room and wanted to read some more, but he was so tired that he fell asleep after a few lines.
