The next morning, Caleb was like a different person. "Hey, what's up?" Kelly asked. "Nothing at all. Just leave me alone." Caleb said snippy. "Hey, watch your tone." Kelly said. "Oh man, just leave me alone." Caleb said, grabbing his school bag and leaving the house. "Caleb!" Kelly called after him. "Man, what is going on with him?" Stella asked. Kelly just shrugged. "Come on Kids. Otherwise, you'll be late.” Sylvie said. "Is Kayab angry?" Benjamin asked. “No, he just has a bad day. Everything looks better again tonight." Sylvie smiled and tied his shoes. Sylvie drove the little ones to school. Hayden and Lydia are the only one’s home now. "You think that has something to do with his anxiety again?" Matt asked. "I have no idea. Unless he talks to me, I can't help him." Kelly said. "There must be something that can be done to help him?" Stella asked. Kelly shrugged. 'What about Daniel? Maybe he knows something." Matt suggested. "Daddy, will you help me?" Hayden asked, coming into the kitchen with the Lego castle box. "Yeah, I'll be right there...It's worth a try." Matt said, walking into the living room. Kelly called Dr. Charles and made an appointment for the following afternoon. "Are you going to pick him up from practice today?" Stella asked. "Yeah, but maybe I'll drive earlier and watch him a bit." Kelly said. When Sylvie returned, she and Stella went outside with Lydia and the two puppies while the boys helped Hayden build his Lego castle.
In the afternoon, Kelly drove to the Chicago Fire Academy training ground. Caleb plays in the Chicago Fire SC U16 youth team. When Kelly arrived at the Academy, training was already well under way. Caleb sat with 2 other players on the substitutes' bench and watched the training. "CJ your dad is here." Michael said, gesturing toward Kelly. Caleb glanced at him, then leaned back and crossed his arms. "What's the matter with you?" Michael asked. "Just leave me alone." Caleb snapped, turning away from them. "We don't like sitting around on the substitutes' bench all the time either, but that's no reason to be snippy." Michael said. After practice, they all went their separate ways. Kelly leaned against his Ford Mustang. "Hey, how was it?" Kelly asked. "Did you see me play today?" Caleb asked annoyed. "Okay, what the hell is wrong with you? Since this morning you've completely changed. Talk to me. I can't help you if you don't tell me what's wrong with you." Kelly said, looking at his son expectantly. Caleb put his hands in his jacket pockets and his eyes filled with tears. «Hey. I'm sorry. But I'm just worried about you. All of us, by the way.” Kelly said and hugged him. "Can we please just go home?" Caleb asked, wiping the tears from his eyes. "Yeah, come on." Kelly said. At home, Caleb immediately went to his room and locked himself. "And? Did you find out anything?" Stella asked. "Something's on his mind, but he doesn't want to talk about it." Kelly said, sitting down with the others at the kitchen counter. "Would you like me to talk to him?" Matt asked. "I don't know if it'll do anything, but of course, don't force yourself." Kelly said. Matt went upstairs and knocked on Caleb's door. When he entered the room, the lights were off and Caleb was in bed asleep. Matt sat down on the bed and rubbed his back. "I'LL STAY WITH DAD!" Caleb shouted, jumping up. "Hey, everything's fine. It's just me." Matt reassured him. Caleb collapsed back onto the bed and pulled the covers over his head. "What's the matter? Did your mom have anything to do with your behavior?" Matt asked. "Just leave me alone, please," Caleb pleaded. "We'll eat soon. Don't you want to come down?" Matt asked. "I'm not hungry." Caleb said, turning away. "We'll save you something in case you get hungry." Matt said and left the room again.
"And? Did you find out anything?” Kelly asked when Matt came back downstairs. “I want to be completely honest. I have a feeling Renee must have had something to do with it." Matt said. "What makes you think so?" Stella asked. “Caleb is already asleep and must have had a nightmare. Anyway, he just said he wanted to stay with his dad." Matt said. "Here we go again." Kelly said. "Daddy, what time are we eating?" Levi asked. "Soon. Tell the others and wash their hands." Matt said. "Okay." Levi said, running downstairs to join the others. "What about Caleb?" Stella asked. "He told me he wasn't hungry. Maybe we'll just put a plate down for him." Matt said. "We're here." Levi said, who now came into the kitchen with the others. “Okay, then sit down, we'll be ready in a moment.” Sylvie said. "Where's Kayab?" Benjamin asked. "He's already sleeping. He's not doing so well today." Stella said, handing him a plate. Kelly took Lydia from Andrew and placed her in her high chair. After dinner the little ones got ready for bed and Sylvie read them a bedtime story. Kelly helped Andrew and Julian with their homework and Stella put Lydia to bed.
