Chapter 57

Meanwhile Caleb has been missing for 3 days. The police are looking for Caleb with high pressure and have even gone public. Airports, train stations and border crossings have been informed and are keeping their eyes open.

Today, after the shift, Kelly drove to the police station to see if there was any news. "Kelly, hey. How are you?" Trudy asked when she saw Kelly. Kelly shrugged. "Come. I'll take you upstairs." Trudy said. "Guys, I've got a visitor for you." Trudy said as she came upstairs with Kelly. "Hey Kelly. Did you hear anything?" Kim asked. "No. That's why I'm here. It's now 3 days since Caleb went missing. I'm freaking out." Kelly said. "We know. Look here. We have news." Jay said. "I'm hoping for good ones." Kelly said. "We've received indications that they are at the airport." Hailey said. "At the airport? I thought they were all informed?" Kelly asked. "They are. Only, let's assume they went to the airport right after the kidnapping and have been hiding there ever since." Jay said.

At the same time at O'Hare International Airport: "What are you up to?" Caleb asked, trying to break free of Renee's tight grip. "Stop struggling. You come with us now. From now on you will live with us." Renee hissed at him. "Forget it. You haven't been there for 15 years. I almost died because of you." Caleb said. "So, what. You're here, so it's fine." Enzo said. "Stay out of this, you're not my father." Caleb said, glaring at him. "Yes, he is. From today he's your father." Renee said. "I don't think about it." Caleb said. "I don't care what you think. Come on." Renee said, pulling Caleb with her. Caleb was able to tear himself free at the gate. Caleb caught his breath when he saw which gate, they were at and where they were supposed to fly. "Athens!? Are you completely stupid now? I'm not flying with you to Athens. You are not allowed to do that at all. Dad has custody and you mustn't go near me at all." Caleb said, trying to run away. Enzo ran after him and grabbed his arm. "Ouch, hey. Let me go. You hurt me. Leave me." Caleb pleaded. "Is everything okay here? Is there anything I can do to help?" one passenger asked. "No. Thanks. Everything OK. Our son has a problem with our life going on in Greece now. But he'll get used to it." Renee said. "No, I won't." Caleb said, trying to pull away, but Enzo just grabbed him harder. "Now let him go for now. Otherwise, I'll be forced to call the police." the passenger said. "Yes, of course. It's really alright." Renee smiled and Enzo let go of Caleb. "Are you really alright?" the passenger asked Caleb. Caleb nodded and rubbed his arm. "Good. Then I wish you a good flight and good luck in Greece." the passenger said and left the 3 alone again. When the passenger was out of sight, Enzo grabbed Caleb's arm again. "So, now you listen to me very carefully. You'll behave yourself now, otherwise I can't guarantee anything." Renee threatened. "What do you mean?" Caleb asked, scared. "Enzo still has some very good friends here. Now, if you keep interfering like that, he'll send his friends out and maybe something will happen to Kelly on a call, of course by accident." Renee said. "You won't dare." Caleb hissed at her. "Want to bet?" Renee asked. Caleb hung his head and shook his head. "Well, I wouldn't have expected anything else." Renee said. Enzo released him and they sat down on an empty row of benches. Just before boarding began, Caleb got up. "Where are you going?" Enzo asked, grabbing his arm again. "Calm down. I just need to go to the bathroom." Caleb said. "Can't that wait until we land in Athens?" Renee asked. "Sure, if you want me to wet my pants and you have to sit next to me for twelve and a half hours, I'll just wait until we land in Athens." Caleb said, sitting down again. "All right, but Enzo will come with you and you hurry. Boarding starts in 15 minutes." Renee said. Caleb nodded and walked to the restrooms with Enzo. "I'm going to go to the toilet by myself, aren't I?" Caleb asked. "Fine, but give me your phone." Enzo said, holding out his hand. "My phone is in my backpack." Caleb said, closing the door. Enzo leaned against the wall and waited with his arms crossed. Caleb pulled his phone out of his pocket and quickly texted his dad.

At the station: "Then what are we waiting for? We have to go to the airport immediately." Kelly said. Suddenly, Kelly's phone vibrated. "It's a message from Caleb." Kelly said. "What's he writing?" Voight asked. "Hey dad. I'm at the airport with Renee and Enzo. They want to fly to Athens with me. Boarding is in 15 minutes. Please, you have to get me out. Caleb." Kelly read. "Hailey, you inform the airport police. Tell them to delay boarding a little longer. We're going to the airport." Voight said. "Can I come with you?" Kelly asked. "Yes. You can ride with me. Come on now." Voight said. Together they made their way to the airport.
