"Well today could have been worse," Virgil admitted as they walked from the school building. "Would have been much better without the angel but what can you do?"

"I know you're being sarcastic, but we could easily kill the angel," Remus said.

"No," Janus told him. "Do not mess with the angel."

"Yeah, I'd rather not have to stain my clothes," Roman added. "Golden blood takes forever to get out."

"They bleed golden blood?" Virgil asked, looking over to the demon with a frown.

"Demon's bleed black, it's not that weird."

"Oh you should see a battlefield after the gods fight!" Remus giggled. "They're all immortal, for the most part, so none of them die. But they all also have different colored blood so it's like paint splattered everywhere! It's so pretty."

"Oh, how lovely. I hope to never see it," Virgil said.

"And you probably never will," Janus told him. "I doubt gods come down here anymore, much less fight."

"Oh yeah, they don't fight down here. Much," Remus told them.

"They don't fight down here anymore," Roman corrected. "However, from what we've heard they had in the past."

"We're pretty young for most demons. That's why we're not taken seriously."

"It's why I'm not taken seriously. You're not taken seriously for other reasons."

"As it should be."

"Hey, isn't that your parents' car?" Janus asked Virgil, pointing to the dark blue car.

Logan was sitting at the steering wheel, looking through the crowd of kids as some headed towards the buses and others went to the cars. As soon as Virgil looked over, he seemed to have caught sight of them and waved.

"Oh right, he had messaged me saying I was going to be picked up," Virgil said.

"Dang, guess we're not gonna get to hang out on the bus," Remus teased.

"As if you guys would actually take it if Roman and I did."

Roman however frowned in worry. The angel was still nearby and he did not want to leave Virgil's side.

"Well, see ya, Virge," Janus said, patting his shoulder as he and Remus walked off to where the buses were.

"Bye bye!" Remus shouted as he walked backwards before turning around to walk with Janus.

Roman reluctantly slowed down. "I'll catch up to you quickly, I won't leave you for long, promise."

"O-okay, I'm sure they won't try anything though since they haven't done anything all day."

"I don't think they will, however I'm not about to let my guard down."

Virgil nodded and started to make his way to the blue car. He slung off his backpack and opened the door, climbing inside. Logan waited for him to close the door and buckle up before setting the car in reverse and backing up.

"I suppose those were friends of yours?" Logan asked.

"Huh, oh, yeah. I-I've been hanging out with them lately and they're pretty nice."

"You mean you haven't been friends for long? You seemed pretty close."

"Well, Janus is from the orphanage, and the other two are new here. They're t- brother's. Though I guess I'm closer to the older one, his name is Roman." Virgil played with the edge of his hoodie nervously, he didn't know why talking about them felt so awkward.

Roman appeared in the back of the car, and if Virgil hadn't gotten used to his teleporting then he would have been startled. The demon waved at him with a smile before sitting back and looking out the window, probably for any threats.

"I see, I hope they're good friends."

"They are. E-ever since I started hanging out with them, the bullying stopped. They're probably too intimidated by Roman."

Roman leaned on the shoulder of Virgil's seat and said, "I am a big scary demon." The human rolled his eyes and fought down a smile.

"That's good, I'm glad you're safe at school now. Especially since the principal seemed useless since he never did anything about it."

"Yeah, I-I really like him- or them. I like all of them, they're nice."

Logan glanced over with a small smile. "I see. If you ever need any romantic advice, I would go to Patton, he's better with those types of things." Roman blinked in surprise before frowning in confusion.

Virgil's face flushed. "It's not like that! I-I mean, they're all nice, but I don't like them like that." He played with the string on his hoodies nervously.

"If you say so. Oh, I should have asked, but do you have any allergies?"

"Oh, uh, not really. Just seasonal."

"That's good, I didn't think so since Ms. Delores never said anything about them."

"Why do you ask?"

Logan sighed, "Patton has a surprise back at home, that's all I will say. He is ever so impulsive sometimes."

"Sounds like you were surprised too."

"That would be an understatement," he laughed. "We have a feeling you will like it though."

"I mean... I've liked everything you guys have gotten me. But you don't need to keep spending money on me, except for the necessities I suppose."

"Virgil, we will legally be your parents soon, of course we're going to spend money on you. Besides, you know Patton, he loves to smother his loved ones in gifts. And we have plenty of money to do so. However, this will be for all of us."

Virgil hummed in acknowledgement, turning to the road. "I can never tell what you two will do next. I'm not used to being doted over."

"Well, you'll become familiar with it real soon, I'm sure. Even before we had met you, Patton had always been fatherly." Logan smiled softly. "I was the one who had brought up the idea of having a child. The idea made him ecstatic. I hope it's not too much, but he already thinks of you as his son."

"Oh... I... oh," Virgil stuttered, trying to think of what to say. He hugged his seatbelt closer to him as his cheeks warmed up, hearing Roman move closer in concern. "Yeah I-I don't know what to say. I'm... I guess I feel honored that he feels that way? I just... I'm sorry it's just been a long time since I've had an actual parent so I don't know how to feel."

"Well, if there's one thing I learned, you shouldn't try to control your emotions. Though, I have a nasty habit of doing it myself, that's only because emotions are horrible."

Virgil laughed, "You got that right. Ugh, especially the bad ones."

"And yet, he married Patton," Roman commented. "That guy is practically the embodiment of emotions. Your parents are an enigma, Virgil."

Smiling wide, Virgil rolled his eyes at the demon for a second time.

"Hopefully Patton already has everything set up," Logan said as they turned down their street. The ride by car was much shorter than the bus ride.

"Oh boy, time to see what your next surprise for me is," Virgil sighed.

Logan smiled at him. "Again, I'm sure you will like it."
