CW: talk of injuries

Roman didn't want to, he wanted to just lie with Virgil alone forever, but eventually he messaged Logan and Patton, telling them Virgil was awake. They deserved to be the first to know, as his parents. And not even 30 seconds later, there were the sounds of running footsteps towards the room.

The door swung open, revealing Patton with Logan behind his heels. Virgil felt guilt rise up when he saw how messy the two looked. Logan's tie was wrinkled, and it looked like Patton just finished using a hair dryer because of how big of a mess it was. The god didn't need to feel the fear coming off of the two, the concern clear on their face.

Patton ran over, Logan closing the door before following as his husband came to a stop in front of the bed. He reached out for Virgil but hesitated. The god gave him a teary smile and raised a shaking hand to him.

"Hey pops, hey dad," he said as he looked between the two, almost crying again.

Patton carefully took Virgil's hand and let out a sob. "Oh Virgil, we were... oh god we were so scared."

"I know," Virgil sniffled.

"Oh, we should still have some medicine, the ones we got for your shoulder. It should help with any pain," Logan suggested, turning to find it.

"It's okay, they don't hurt too bad," Virgil stopped him. "They-they feel numb."

"What do you mean?" Roman asked.

"I mean, I-I still feel them but they don't hurt too much. They feel like bruises an-and small cuts. Except for when I move too much."

"Virgil, your leg is broken," Logan told him, "how does that just feel like a bruise?"

"It could be one of his powers," Roman said.

"Powers?" Virgil asked, looking at him confused.

"Oh you have no idea... Shit, okay, well love, you're... a god now." Roman braced himself.

"I-I remember. The cultist said that, and I figured that's why I'm not dead. Is-is that why I was able to sense all... all of those humans?" Virgil asked. "And all their fear..."

"Humans?" Patton asked, frowning slightly. "Where?"

A guilty look flashed Virgil's face. "Where... she held me. I-I felt their fear and I felt like I just had to save them. I don't want them to be afraid, to be in danger. But I was so scared of her... And I was powerless to stop her."

"You're not powerless anymore. Once you heal and learn to use your powers, she won't be able to hurt you again," Roman told him. "I've seen you use your powers, they're strong."

"What do you mean?"

Roman took a deep breath as he tried to explain. "Oh boy, well... When you saw us, you-you didn't think we were real and you were freaking out. Then there was this purple electricity running up your hands, and it hit Remus and I and... Well Remus said that he-"

"He saw his worst nightmare?" Virgil interrupted.

The red demon frowned. "How'd you know?"

"I-I remember a vision, one that wasn't like the ones that she had shown me. It was bad, but I knew that it wasn't something she was showing me. It involved Janus, and there were a bunch of other people that I didn't know."

"So, this electricity shows others their worst nightmare, and you see what they see," Logan said. "Is it possible to summon it on your own? Or does it have to be in times of stress?"

"I-I don't know, I don't ever wanna use it again," Virgil said, taking his hand away from Patton just in case. "I don't wanna hurt anyone."

"I think it's for defense," Roman said. "The lightning hurt, but the worst part is possibly the visions. You probably developed this power because of what Alice was doing to you."

Virgil flinched at the name, making Roman feel guilty. "But, I don't ever want to do what she did to me to others."

"You won't have to, no one is going to force anything upon you," Patton told him, pushing the white hair out of Virgil's eyes. "Oh you changed so much... Gods really are different from humans."

"My hair?" Virgil asked. "A-and my blood?"

"Your eyes too," Roman told him.

"My eyes?"

"Oh! Right, you don't know." Roman pulled out his phone and opened it to the camera. He showed Virgil, who's eyes just opened wider.

"Oh my g..." Virgil cut himself off from shock. The purple and black eyes that looked back at him were somehow his own.

"I-I think it looks good!" Roman quickly told him. "You look cool! But, I mean, you'll be able to shapeshift if you don't like it! I can teach you how."

"I... I think I still need time to process. It's still a bit hard to believe that I was practically sacrificed... again."

"The first time, they did it wrong, and that's how you got stuck with me."

"Still wasn't a pleasant experience. Where are the others? Are they here?"

"Everyone is here," Logan said. "Roman and Remus went to the orphanage and got everyone out, bringing them here."

Virgil's eyes opened and he turned towards his dads again. "The kids and Delores are here?"

"Yes, though it's best you don't see them yet. The kids don't know what happened to you, and we still need to come up with a way to explain all of..." Logan looked him up and down. "This... Hopefully your injuries are mostly healed by then. But you can see Delores and the Picani's if you would like, Remus included."

"Yeah, I somehow missed him and Janus too. It would be nice to see them again..."

"Okay, I'll go get them," Patton said. He bent down and kissed Virgil's head. "I'm so happy you're back, we love you, Virgil."

"I love you too, dads."

Alice let the sword in her hand drag against the road. The human world has changed vastly from the last time she was allowed on Earth. Before she turned into a Warden. She had regretted it before, but not anymore... Not now that all of this was hers to do with as she pleases.

She saw an imp on a roof, looking for any victims. It spotted her and instantly tried to hide, but she whistled for it to come closer. Hesitantly, and almost painfully, it did.

"Have you seen any gods around? White hair, covered in blood?" she asked sweetly. The imp frantically shook its head. "Well, go look then. Find the god, and bring him back to me. Go."

The imp teleported away, and Alice looked around the town again. She teleported on top of a building and looked around more. There were plenty of demons around, and she needed more than one to find that little god...
