"Love," Virgil heard the demon coo as he slowly woke up. "Dear, it's time to wake up."
Virgil groaned and pulled the blanket over his face, hearing Roman laugh above him. "Sleep," he mumbled.
"I can smell breakfast being made, I'm sure someone will come up to get you soon." Roman pulled the blanket down before running his hand through Virgil's hair.
Virgil hummed, his eyes fluttering open. "I'm so comfy though."
The demon laughed and leaned down to kiss his forehead. "I know, but I have a feeling they'll want you to come downstairs to eat with them today. After all, it's your birthday!"
It took a moment for Virgil to register the last part, but when he did his eyes widened. "Holy shit it's my birthday."
"You're finally 18! And I went downstairs a few moments ago, I know one of the surprises they have in store for you. You're going to love it! But I don't want to ruin the surprise." Roman bit his lip. "Today is going to be a great day."
"Hmm... well it's not like I'm going to be able to go anywhere with my shoulder like this. I'm gonna rest until someone comes to get me." Virgil pulled the blanket over his head again.
"Ah, you're not gonna talk with me? I've been sitting here all night, all alone with my thoughts!" Roman feigned hurt as he fell next to Virgil.
Virgil grumbled from under the blanket.
"You're so cruel to me."
"Shh, sleep."
There was a knock on the door and Virgil groaned.
"Wakey wakey, birthday bitch!" Remus shouted as Janus opened the door.
"No!"
Roman laughed, pulling the blanket back again. "Come on, love. We have a big day today."
"Ugh, will none of you let me sleep in?" Virgil complained.
"Nope," Janus told him. "Not today. You can do that tomorrow."
"Don't you have school?"
"We're skipping again. Come on already! Get your butt out of bed and downstairs! Everyone's waiting for you."
Virgil sat up with Roman's help, holding onto the demon's hand as he used his other one to support Virgil's back. "It's just a birthday, I don't see what the big deal is."
"Virgil, it's your first birthday living with Patton and Logan. And it's your 18th birthday!"
"Let's put on your jacket first," Roman said, grabbing the dark material.
Virgil put his left arm through it, and let it hang off of his right shoulder. He was too tired to take his arm out of the sling and put it through the jacket sleeve, so he just left it there.
Roman helped him onto his feet, still sluggish from sleep.
"Come on, old man! We don't have all day!" Remus rushed him.
"I'll be down there in a moment, just go downstairs and wait," Virgil told him, rubbing his eye as he forced himself to wake up.
"Fine, but if you're going to fuck my brother, don't take too long."
"Remus!" Virgil's face heated up. Well, guess he's awake now.
Roman threw a pillow at his brother, who laughed as he left the room. Janus just rolled his eyes and followed.
"You're brother, I swear..." Virgil laughed with a shake of his head.
"Are you okay, dear?" Roman asked, taking his hand.
"I'm fine, just tired. It'll pass, it always does."
"Okay, then let's follow them downstairs." Roman started walking towards the door but Virgil pulled him back.
"First..." He let go of the demon's hand, instead placing his hand on Roman's shoulder. He pulled him down and stood on his toes, kissing the demon's cheek. "I love you."
Roman's face turned red as he purred. "Can I kiss you? On the lips?" he asked, his hand cupping Virgil's cheek.
Virgil nodded with a smile, closing his eyes as Roman leaned down again. His heart fluttered as he felt the demon's lips on his and he sighed softly. Virgil's hand traveled up to the demon's hair, feeling his fingers being tangled in it. Gods the kiss felt amazing...
It wasn't deep, and they pulled away after a few seconds. They had to go downstairs after all, even if they wanted to stay alone together for the rest of the day. Well... they could do that later.
"I love you, dear," Roman said, pushing the bangs out of Virgil's eyes.
"I love you too, Ro..." Virgil told him.
"Now let's go, or Remus might come bother us again."
Virgil laughed, taking Roman's hand again as they walked out of the room and downstairs. Pretty quickly he smelled the bacon, and whatever else they had made for breakfast.
"Virgil!" Patton greeted as he finally reached the kitchen. He set down a spatula and walked over, giving him a loose hug. "Good morning! Happy birthday, kiddo!"
"Morning Pops, and thanks," Virgil said.
"I hope you slept well," Logan commented.
"I did, don't worry, Dad."
Patton pulled away and rubbed his hair. "We'll always worry about you," he told him. "Now, do you want a waffle or a pancake? And do you want chocolate chips, blueberries, or just normal?"
"Um, just a normal pancake is fine. I don't like too much sugar in the morning, it hurts my stomach sometimes," Virgil answered as he walked over to where Janus was sitting at the island counter that was in the middle of the kitchen. There were some stools there on one side for them to be able to sit on, and Virgil sat next to the youngest witch.
"See! I'm not the only one," Logan told Patton. "I can't handle sugar in the morning either."
"Yeah, sugar in the morning is weird," Remy commented as he put caramel and chocolate syrup in his coffee. He took a spoon and opened a jar that held the sugar, taking a spoon full before stirring it all in the mug.
"He loves coffee, but doesn't like it when it's bitter," Emile explained to Logan, who frowned at the doctor in confusion. "He also loves sarcasm and joking around."
"So, we can't do much for your birthday unfortunately," Patton told Virgil, ignoring the others. "However we still have a bit planned for the day. We were thinking of watching a movie, and ordering whatever fast food you wanted. But first! Someone is coming over later today!"
Virgil frowned in confusion. "Really? Who?"
"You'll see later today." Patton flipped a pancake. "But I know you're going to be happy to see them!"
"It's Delores, isn't it?" Virgil leaned on his elbow against the counter.
"Wait, how did you find out?"
"Really?! I-I mean, it's not like there's anyone else you were going to invite over for me." Virgil sat back on the chair and played with the strap that held the sling. "Still, I'm glad she's going to come over."
"She should be around here in an hour, so eat up and then go get dressed," Patton said as he slid a plate with a big pancake and a few cookies on it over to Virgil. "We got you cake and a few presents for you to have after lunch!"
Virgil bit his lip in excitement. "You guys are the best."
