CW: panic attacks, blood, gore
Logan set down the last of the first aid. Patton placed a pitcher of water next to it, a cup for drinking and a bowl with a washcloth for disinfecting if they ran out of medicine. No one knew how badly hurt Virgil was going to be, so they just grabbed it all.
"Okay, we'll probably take a few minutes," Remus said, tightening bandages around his arm. It wasn't fully healed, not even close, but they couldn't waste anymore time. Not only was Roman starting to get worse, but Alice just keeps growing stronger. Especially now that Virgil is a full god.
"Remy, Emile, you two will help Delores keep the kids distracted," Logan said. "Janus-"
"I'm staying here. I'll make the room soundproof the instant Virgil is here," Janus said. "After that, I'm an extra set of hands."
Roman was looking through his weapons. His hands had already changed to claws, but having a weapon with him would help. He would summon one, think for a second, drop it and summon the next as if he was swiping through tinder, or grinder, for weapons. Though, to be honest, he was only half paying attention.
He was just worried about what they were going to see. He knew Virgil was going to be hurt, he probably wouldn't even be able to walk, even if he did have healing powers now. Not only that, but he was going to look different.
It was very uncommon for gods to look like they did when they were human. Some didn't even look human anymore. Though, gods are able to shift shape just as demons and angels are. Virgil probably hasn't figured that out yet, or any of his powers.
Not only was Roman worried about what he was going to see, but they had to worry about Alice. The moment she feels them anywhere near her castle, she's going to go after them to make sure they don't reach Virgil.
They had to avoid her as best as they could. The moment she spots them, they'll have trouble getting away. They only have one chance at this, they can't mess up, or they will never get Virgil back.
"Roman, are you ready?" Remus asked. He was holding his morning star again, though he had to hold it with his right hand.
Roman frowned as he looked over the sword in his hands. "Yeah, I think I'm good." He summoned a sheath and put the sword in before hooking it on his pants.
"Okay, let's not die then!" Remus gave Roman's arm a light punch. He looked at the humans with an excited smile. "Be back in a bit! Get ready!" He grabbed his brother's shoulders and they both disappeared into green smoke.
They appeared in front of the castle, and Roman took a shuddering breath. Virgil's aura is so much stronger now, it overwhelmed Alice's.
"Let's keep moving," Roman said. Alice probably knew they were there now.
They teleported inside the dark castle, finding themselves in an empty room. Instantly they were both on edge, keeping an eye out for anything. It was possible that the whole castle was like this, no hallways and just rooms.
Roman's heart started pounding as they teleported again, trying to get to Virgil as fast as possible. The red demon gasped when they appeared in another empty room. He set his shaky hand against the wall, Virgil was right there. In the other room...
He tightened his grip on his sword before they teleported inside. What he saw made him stop breathing.
The spikes that went through Virgil's wrists, snow white hair stained purple, his shirt torn and barely hanging on his small frame, the cuts and bruises that stood out against his pale skin, and his leg bent at an unnatural angle. Roman felt frozen, horrified by the sight. Tears stung his eyes that were wide open, and a hand covered his mouth.
