CW: blood, kidnapping, ritual stuff
The cars slowed down after maybe ten minutes, which felt much longer. Virgil held onto Logan's hand while trying not to have a panic attack. His shoulder pain was really keeping him grounded, that and not wanting to break down in front of the cultists.
They were all pulled from the cars once they came to a stop, and to Virgil's horror he recognized where they were. Standing in front of the forest where all of this had started... and no doubt they were going to be brought to the abandoned house.
Roman growled as the cultist pulled him out from the car. The moment he saw Virgil, he almost ran to his side. But he couldn't make any sudden moves, the cultists were watching him and his brother the most. Taking any action could end up getting someone they cared about killed.
His anger was drowned out by fear completely when he caught the scent of something coming from the forest. Blood, and not just any blood. Archangel blood...
"Ro..." Remus whispered.
"I know," he replied.
"Move it," one of the cultists shouted.
Slowly they all made their way through the trees, each of them being watched carefully.
Virgil felt like throwing up. He didn't want to return here ever again. Please don't make him... He wouldn't be able to handle this again. What were they going to do to them?
Janus kept glancing at the demons, who kept looking between the cultists. He wanted them to be able to do something, and do it fast, but he knew the risk as well as they do. He looked over to Virgil, who was the only one that didn't have his hands up since he was holding onto his shoulder. His face was pale and his eyes were wide, he looked worse than he did when the angels kidnapped them.
They came across the stream that now had a board going across it, and one at a time they crossed. Logan went first, whatever horrible thing was going to happen, he wanted to take the brunt of it to protect his family.
He was itching for something to happen so he could take action. His first priority was protecting Patton and Virgil. He had noticed some of their kidnappers acting strange, as if there were two extra people in the group. It only put Logan on edge, if they were dealing with crazy people then it would be harder to predict what they will do. Not that he knew what they wanted anyway.
Patton bit the inside of his cheek to keep himself grounded. He wanted to cry, to scream, to run away, but he couldn't. Not without putting the others or himself in danger. And he couldn't show any weakness in front of their assaulters. He couldn't be weak in front of his son, he wanted to make sure Virgil felt safe. Even if they weren't.
Remy and Emile felt the most pressure out of anyone except for maybe the twins. They were both the only adults that understood what was happening, except for Virgil who was only now legally an adult by a day.
Remy wanted to know what was happening and why the cultist had kidnapped them. While he was glad that he was there to protect any of them if it came down to it, he was still as clueless as the rest when it came to the cultists motives.
Emile just wanted to get out of there. He figured they could find out what was happening later, once they got to safety. He didn't want Janus and Virgil to be hurt again, he didn't want Logan and Patton to be violently thrown into this world, and honestly he really just wanted to go home and curl up in bed.
"Roman..." Remus whispered again.
"I know," Roman quietly growled.
Out of everyone, the two demons knew the most. The blood that they could smell, and was only getting stronger... If the cultist knew what they could use the blood for... Roman just hoped they were wrong.
But he probably wasn't.
At least now they know what happened to the archangel. The cultists probably got what they wanted from her before disposing of her. Sure she was injured but she was still an archangel, and if they could get rid of her so easily... Something else was at play here.
As they got closer to the abandoned house, Roman started to feel worse. It felt like there was a gap in his memory, a puzzle piece just out of reach. He knew what was going on, but at the same time he couldn't figure it out. What was missing?
Virgil was sure his heart was going to burst when he saw the house. He couldn't feel his legs, and the world was tilting around him. He didn't want to go back inside there... where they had tried to sacrifice him to Roman. The pain and fear he felt that night... He didn't want to go through that again. Especially not with all of the others.
But the gun was placed against his back and he was forced to continue walking. The door opened and they were all brought inside. Virgil was sure he was going to pass out, seeing several cloaked figures.
There was a woman there who wore the robes of the deceased head cultist. She looked much older, gray stripes in her black hair. Behind her was a girl that looked similar to her, but as a young adult. She held a dagger, and her eyes looked dead.
"Bring them downstairs," the head cultist commanded.
"What's going on?" Remy tried to ask as they were led to the basement, forced to walk down the steps. No one answered him.
Virgil's eyes widened when he saw the basement again. Roman had told him everything had been removed, but it seemed to all be placed back. The altar with a new circle in front of it, the book, the daggers. Then there was the metallic smell of blood in the air, and a barrel was next to the altar, gold seeping from the top.
The basement door closed and there was a click as it was locked. Everyone was led to the back wall, where some cultist grabbed duck tape and one grabbed Patton. Logan wanted to move forward, to shout at them for daring to touch him, but they had no power here.
Patton's wrists were taped together as another cultist did the same to Emile. Another grabbed chains that had symbols carved into them. They moved towards Roman and Remus, who both stepped back and growled the moment they saw the chains.
"If you dare put those on us, we'll rip out your throat," Remus threatened.
"Put them on or someone here will be killed," the head cultist warned, confusing the already scared and confused Logan and Patton.
Roman growled but held out his wrists. He winced as the chains were put on him, and he felt his magic being contained. Well, it wasn't like he would be able to use them in a fight anyway.
Of course, the chains made him appear to Logan and Patton, who both gasped and stepped away. Roman looked away from them, his horns and tail were out and the golden marking under his eyes were shown. He had to conserve some magic, so he had let himself appear.
Remus let the cultist put the chains on him as well, his head spinning for a moment at the sudden loss of his magic. Roman was used to the feeling, but not Remus.
A cultist moved to duck tape Virgil's wrists together, but the head cultist raised her hand.
"Stop, not him," she said. "Bring him forward."
Patton's eyes widened. For a moment, his voice was stuck in his throat, but he gathered as much courage as possible and stepped forward. "D-don't hurt him," he whimpered out. "What-what are you going to do to him?"
The head cultist looked over at him with a smile. "We're going to turn him into a god."
