Roman was sitting on the roof of the house, watching all the demons destroy everything. It was quiet inside the mansion, so people must be going to sleep, but he wanted to be outside. Not like he had anyone he had to watch over anymore...

There was a pile of rocks next to him and occasionally he picked one up and threw it at any demon that got close enough. He used his strength to make the rock lethal, watching as the demons burst into cinders.

The dark castle was big enough to see from the mansion. He wanted to go to the castle to find Virgil. He wanted to tear down the walls, demolish the place, and do everything he could to keep Virgil safe. It was torture waiting around like this, not knowing how Virgil was.

It's been longer than 24 hours since the apocalypse has started now. Virgil has been stuck with Alice that whole time. Who knows what she's done to him? The physical and mental torture she's put him through.

Not to mention the fact that Virgil has to deal with the fact that he's now immortal. He's now a god. He can never die... Roman had wanted that at some point. Now he's not so sure, since he knew Virgil wouldn't want that. Especially right now, he would want an escape. It felt selfish that Roman took comfort in the fact that he couldn't die.

The demon's tail curled around him as he leaned on his knees. He hid his demon traits from the kids and Delores earlier, though Delores at least now knows he's a demon, and the kids knew they weren't human. He still kept it hidden, he didn't want to scare them. The world is overrun by demons, showing that he is one will scare them. Especially Kayden, who was shaken up for a long time.

Roman picked up another rock and threw it at a flying demon. It screeched in pain before falling from the sky. It turned to cinders before it even hit the ground.

"Ooh, we're playing duck hunt?" his brother asked from behind him. The green demon sat next to him, throwing his legs over the edge of the house.

"What do you want, Remus?" Roman huffed.

"To spend time with my twin brother, what else?"

"To annoy me, to comfort me, to do whatever it is that you really came out here to do." Roman picked up two rocks, sharpening one with the other.

"Ya got me, I'm here to both annoy and comfort you. Wanna talk about... anything?"

Roman was silent for a moment, chipping away pieces of a flat wrong. He occasionally hit his thumb and fingers, but he didn't care.

Eventually he said, "Remember when we fought the Princess who had cursed me?"

"Oh how could I forget! It was one of our best battles. Took days for us to win, and we nearly lost."

"We were covered in so much blood... both hers and our own."

"It was so worth it to see her turn into a shower of ash and embers.

"It was... We probably should have died."

"We were lucky."

"So lucky..." Roman repeated, his hands slowing down as he stopped chipping away a rock. "We've been pretty unlucky lately."

"I mean, we are in an apocalypse!" Remus gestured around.

"That's not what I meant... Even before the apocalypse... I was supposed to protect Virgil and I failed him so many times."

Remus sighed, "Roman-"

"Can you feel him?" Roman turned to the castle, staring at it with a serious look in his eyes. "Can you feel his power growing?"

Remus frowned, he had mostly been focusing on demons that he didn't even realize... It was small but there was definitely an aura growing. One of a god...

"I wonder what powers he's going to get," Remus said.

"With the environment he's in right now... It's probably going to be a defensive power. Maybe it'll make his skin stronger? Or his injuries will heal faster? Maybe he will become strong enough to break out?"

"You know we won't be able to defeat Alice without him, right?" Remus asked, making Roman's skin grow cold.

"He's not fighting, I don't want to make him." He shook his head.

"We won't be able to defeat her by ourselves. I get it, if Janus was in this situation then I wouldn't want him to ever fight again either. But... We might have defeated a Princess once but Wardens are on a different level. I'm surprised she hasn't hunted us down for sport yet."

"I wish she was doing that, since that would mean she would leave Virgil alone. The less time he spends with her, the better."

"We can't risk putting the others in danger."

"What do you mean by that?"

"They can't come with us. They're just human, even Janus. They could be killed, or worse..."

Roman frowned for a moment and nodded. "You're right. It would just make things more difficult. The others might not like that."

Remus shrugged. "We don't have to tell them. Besides, all we really need to do right now is save Virgil. We don't even need to fight Alice. Just gotta get in and out without being caught."

"That's going to be incredibly difficult. But it will be worth it."

Alice teleported to her throne room, a goblet of purple blood in hand. The god's blood was starting to get darker, which meant he was growing more powerful. But as long as she keeps him weak and unaware of his power, he won't be able to do anything.

Besides, the more blood of his she drank, the more powerful she becomes. She couldn't help but smile as she took a sip, walking to her throne.

She set the goblet down on the arm of her throne, sitting down and folding her legs. She snapped her fingers and the two humans from before, the cultists, appeared before her in a cloud of black magic.

Their skin was pale and they were trembling as they watched her with wide eyes. She frowned in disappointment at their state.

"How pathetic... oh well. It's time I begin my rule, and the first thing I will need is servants. I could easily take command of some demons, but they're boring. I've spent centuries with them and I want humans. So go out and bring some back."

"A-a-and how sh-should we d-do that, m-ma'am?" one of the cultists asked.

Alice squinted her eyes at him, unfolding her legs so her feet were flat on the floor. "That's for you to figure out."

"Y-y-you prom-mised us a-a p-paradise," the other cultists said. "You-you pr-promised we-we would b-be happy."

"Stupid humans." Alice rubbed her head. She stood up and walked over. "If you are not happy, I couldn't care less. Just be happy you were not the immortal that was sacrificed to me. Unless you want to endure the same torment he does?"

"N-no ma'am. I-I'm sorry, ma'am." The cultist bowed his head.

"Good." Alice placed her hand on his head. "Hmm... only one of you is really needed." She twisted her wrist and there was a snap as the cultist's head did as well. His body fell to the ground and the other cultist tensed up.

Alice turned to him with a smile. "Now, since it'll be so hard for you to get other humans as just one yourself, why don't I give you a bit of demonic magic?"

"A-a-as a witch?" the cultist asked.

"No, not a witch. Stay still now, this might hurt." Alice placed her hand on his head, making him tense up.

He screamed in pain as she let him borrow a bit of her magic. His eyes turned black and horns twisted from his skull. She let go of him and he sobbed with an inhuman voice.

"Now go," Alice told him. "Find me some humans. Bring them back. I want as many as you can manage before the magic overwhelms and kills you."
