The moment the door opened and Buttercup saw Virgil, she started meowing like crazy as she tried to get out of Patton's arms. Logan smiled and rolled his eyes slightly as he carried in a plate of cookies.

Janus was still in the room, having pulled up a chair next to Virgil's bed. Although Logan and Patton couldn't see them, Roman was on the bed next to Virgil and Remus was sitting on the desk.

"Hey Virge, we brought someone who missed you," Patton said, setting down Buttercup at the edge of the bed.

The kitten ran up to Virgil, practically screaming for pets. Virgil couldn't help but smile wide, holding out a hand for her. She bumped her head into his palm, pushing against his hand and purring.

"I missed you too, Buttercup," Virgil cooed, scratching behind her ears.

"We also brought some cookies," Logan stated, holding out the plate for them. Janus took one, but Virgil was still too busy petting Buttercup.

"Thanks, how many did you make?" Janus asked. "The whole house smells like cookies, and considering I haven't had the time to explore all of it, that's impressive."

"Um... enough. But I'll be sure to tell your parents we'll be doing the grocery shopping," Patton answered. "You're almost out of sugar now."

Janus snorted a laugh. "I'm sure they'll pay you back even if you told them not to."

"Remy still hasn't paid me back for that pack of m&m's I bought for him in 11th grade," Patton pouted playfully.

Virgil looked up from Buttercup. "I bet he can afford to do that now, as well as pay interest."

Logan laughed, setting down the plate of cookies on the desk. He, nor Patton, noticed a cookie disappear. "Indeed, and I thought our house was unnecessarily big."

"I need to show Virgil around when he's feeling better," Janus said.

"We can do that tomorrow," Virgil sighed, leaning his head back against the pillow again. "I'm still pretty tired."

"I have school tomorrow."

"Ugh, please don't remind me."

"You're going to be staying home, kiddo," Patton told him. "At least for a week."

"I'm going to have so much work to makeup."

"Don't worry about that," Logan told him. "Just focus on resting. We'll help you with any schoolwork you get."

Virgil turned and smiled at them. "Thanks dads, you're both great."

Virgil couldn't stop tripping as he ran, his breathing shallow and the air burning. It felt like there was a heavy weight on his back, and to his utter terror, he couldn't seem to run fast enough. Why was he so slow? Why can't his legs move faster? It felt like he was running in water.

Why did he feel so heavy? He wasn't carrying anything, was he? Was he forgetting something? What was it? Who was-

Janus.

The weight disappeared and instead was filled with an empty horror. Where did Janus go? He was hurt, wasn't he? He was in danger. They were all in danger. But Virgil needed to find Janus, he needed to get him to safety.

There were sounds of fighting from just around the corner, and it sounded like they were getting close. He knew he had to avoid it, but he had to find Janus first. Janus was missing, was he hiding? Virgil had to find him and bring him to safety.
