CW: blood, gore (probably the most intense I've ever written), gruesome deaths (cultists). Just gonna say this now... I am sorry

"The blood of a newborn god..." Remus whispered. "And a parent being slain by their child's hand."

Roman tried to look up, but was still weak and had to lean against his brother. This was the first time he had lost a soul, demons can only have a contract with humans. And Virgil is no longer human. He was a god, an immortal, or turning into one anyway.

The contract was completely destroyed, and it had hurt Roman. The connection was no longer there. He wanted- no, he needed it there! He needed his connection to Virgil, he needed to hold and protect him. He needed to make sure he was okay.

Then he noticed the fire on the candles were black, and the wax was melting way too quickly. The chilling air turned scorching, making everyone sweat. Dark smoke was filling the room, though it only took a few seconds for Roman to realize it wasn't smoke. It was magic. She was here, they couldn't stop her.

No, they didn't stop her. They could have, at the risk of the others' lives. But they didn't, and now the world is ending.

Virgil wasn't moving. His white blood mixed with the red blood that dripped from the head cultists chest.

"A-Ali..." she gasped, trying to turn to her daughter.

"You killed them," Alice said, tears dripping down her cheeks. "You tore our family apart. You knew that the summoning they were going to that night wouldn't work! You knew that they would die! And you didn't stop them! Dad and Cecil are dead because of you!"

She pulled the dagger out and let her mom drop to the ground, blood pouring from her chest faster as she let out a sob of pain. She tried to stop the bleeding, pressing her hand to her chest, but she was losing consciousness fast.

Two cultists went forward and grabbed Alice, holding her still as she tried to fight from their grasp. The white blood and red blood mixed together, moving around the lines of the pentagram on the floor. Several cultists looked confused and conflicted, the summoning seemed to be working but their head cultist had been killed.

Some stepped away, others stayed still, the two continued to struggle with Alice. Logan tried to move forward, to get to Virgil, but Remy and Emile grabbed him.

"Let me go, I need to get to him!"

"We need to stay back, it's not safe!" Remy told him. "He's going to live! Just stay back, it'll be fine."

"He's bleeding out!"

"No, no he won't-" Emile tried to explain. "He can't... he's not human anymore. Just breathe, everything will be fine! I promise-"

There was a chilling laughter that filled the room. The dark smoke circled around, stinging everyone's eyes. Cracks ran up the walls, and just when they were sure the house was going to collapse on all of them, it was all torn away as if a tornado had gone through.

The sky was in clear view now, dark clouds rolling in and lightning striking around them. Patton grabbed onto Logan as his hair whipped around, the wind blowing in every which way. The black fire spun and grew around the circle, blocking out the view of everyone and everything inside.

Roman grabbed a dropped dagger, using whatever magic he could muster into it to break the cuffs around his wrists. Once they were off, he did the same for Remus before dropped the dagger and ran to the four adults who were huddled together. He made sure not to touch Logan and Patton since they were both clearly terrified, even of him, but he managed to get them to move closer to the wall.
