Project 863 - The Mystery

~Chapter 20~

The next day everyone except Woods was sitting in the blue base as Matthias laid in the couch chair mentioning how he ate his feelings saying how he wasn't done eating and would continue to eat his feelings out as Bailey spoke looking at him. "How are you? How does it feel that you talked to him face to face for the first time?" Bailey asked looking at him as Matthias thought about it for a moment before speaking. "It seems super strange... like super real. I could see his eyes. Through the red, I could see him looking at me. It was the most unsettling thing, I saw someone behind that." Matthias explained as everyone was surprised as they continued to speak before mentioning the tape as Matthias explained what had happened the night before as they had Woods make the tape an actual video so they could watch it at the mega desk as everyone sat there speaking about how they want to see what was on the full tape before going to the mega desk. 

When they got to the mega desk they began to watch as Wes walked to the car, getting in just like before as they began to hear singing in the background as they waited for it to happen, when the gunshot happened Matthais mentions the hand he had seen as they saw that the tape didn't cut off yet before they watched a woman get out of the car and run away from the car as Matthias replayed it while laughing before he spoke. "That's Deb... That is Deb... Who else could it be? It's the only other option." Matthias spoke as everyone was in disbelief as Sam spoke looking at him. "So Deb killed Wes." Sam spoke looking at them as Bailey spoke after listening to Sam, "When we talked to Deb was like she didn't even know." Bailey spoke as River sat there in silence, not wanting to believe that it was her but there was proof that it was her now. 

"Yeah she said she had some blind hope that he was still alive-" Sam started as Matthias cut her off as he sat there. "She's lying, she's lied so many times before," Matthias responded looking at the video as Sam sat there before responding to him. "So she's been lying to us this entire time??" Sam asked as Matthias nodded looking at her as he looked up before responding. "She didn't want us solving the murder. This murder came to us she didn't ask us to solve this murder... she was trying to hide this. She was trying to frame Benjamin so she couldn't get caught killing Wes." Matthias spoke as Bailey sat there, leaning her head on her hand as she spoke. "Then why was Benjamin at Wes's grave?" She asked confused as River sat there before responding. "To get what Wes had..." River spoke as Matthias nodded sitting there as he responded to them. "Who else would be waiting for Wes in the car apart from his lover," Matthias spoke as they began to discuss giving it to John Doe and confronting Deb.

"That is Deb... that's literally- hair in a ponytail. Literally who we see as Deb in the coat in the ponytail. That's Deb. I would be skeptical but no one else gets out after." Matthias explained showing the rest of the case as they continued to question how Deb didn't know that Wes was dead and explaining the information that they have gotten from the start to the moment currently as they changed the topic about her experiments as Matthias spoke. "She called us Project 863, and this murder happened on project 863 this could have been the very start of the project, this could have been the start to what she needed to trigger this all to happen. Killing Wes." Matthias spoke looking at them as they nodded before seeing that she had grabbed something off of Wes's neck Matthias began to explain everything before planning to put it on a flash drive to give to John Doe in person before going to email him as they questioned if Benjamin was the good guy or is anyone the good guys.

As Matthias emailed John Doe, they mentioned how everyone had been happy YouTubers before it came around as he explained the document of Sam's birth as Matthias mentions how he wants to go back to a normal life, not a life of having to constantly deal with things related to 863. After some time when the camera began rolling River had been sitting on the couch as she watched them talk about how they had been not being able to focus before Matthias mentioned how John Doe messaged him back but told him not to bring any cameras as he was at the murder site. River continued to watch them talk as she sat on the couch not feeling as great as she thought she was feeling, she thought it was from the flu but she was also thinking it was from the serum possibly as she tried to push past the feeling of not feeling great before following the others outside. The others had stayed back watching Matthias talk to John Doe from afar as he comes back after a while with a briefcase as they got confused

"What did he say?" Bailey asked as Matthias walked over to them before he spoke. "He said he wasn't surprised... he specifically said that's a great explanation for why it's taking him so long to solve the case. He said he kept his word." Matthias explained holding up the case as they talked about wanting to talk to Deb but wanting to open the case first as Matthias stood there checking the case as he spoke. "I swear if this needs a key ima lose my mind. I'm gonna lose my mind." Matthias spoke as Woods mentioned how they had ways to break the lock which caused everyone to laugh as they head inside, going to the conference room as Matthias sighed before going to open the case as he saw evidence inside before picking up gloves as he spoke. "I swear if this guy got me medium size gloves we're not friends anymore." He joked as he put the gloves on as everyone apart from Quinn sat around him watching as he began to examine each piece of evidence that John Doe's team had found. 

"LAPD 4-16-21 time of collection, 2:36. Piece of labcoat material. Blood marks." Matthias explained showing it to the camera before sitting it down as he picked up the evidence of the empty vials of serum before getting a blue cosmetic bag as the next evidence as they believed it was Deb's cosmetic bag. They had pulled out bones and talked about it for a moment as Matthias got confused as to where the antidote was as he pulled evidence out of the pocket seeing Benjamin's tag as they sat it down before he pulled out the yellow vial. "No... No..." Matthias spoke as he put his head into the side of his hands that didn't touch the evidence as Sam spoke. "The counteragent..." Sam spoke as River looked at her and Matthias was surprised before Bailey spoke. "Why would it say antidote?" She asked confused as River decided to respond to her as she sat there. "Deb told us that they were labeled differently..." River responded as she sighed knowing that she nor Matthias was able to get an antidote as they talked about the new vial color they found. 

Matthias had explained that the counteragent counteracts the effects of the serum for a short period as they had no idea how long it could last as Matthias closed the case being frustrated as River looked at him while Woods tried to make him believe there were more antidotes as River looked at him. "What if that was it?" River asked looking at him as Woods looked back at her before responding. "They aren't going to make five antidotes and no more," Woods explained as Matthias told the group how he was almost deaf and how it hadn't gone away and how he felt fatigued and was giving up as Woods tried to tell him how they would find something else as Matthias sighed as Sam explained everything that they had found out today as she decided to bring something up. "If people made an antidote. If they were able to make five, there has to be documentation of that somewhere." Sam explained as Matthias looked at her before responding to her. "Maybe it wasn't documented... maybe it just died with Wes," Matthias explained as they explained about not seeing a yellow vial before River stopped focusing.
