Turning around, my eyes caught sight of Clarissa who was descending the stairs in her red dress, looking as beautiful as ever. She smiled brightly when she saw me and excitedly waved—as if we didn't live in the same house and we didn't see each other just a few minutes ago.

I only gave her a smile in response as she made her way further down and then began walking towards me with a wide grin on her face. "Hello!"

"Hi," I muttered, glancing at her from top to bottom, "looking nice. You should probably go greet the rest of your guests."

"Please don't do anything that will—" I cut her off, "—I know, I know. Don't you trust me, dear sister?" She sighed, nodding, "yeah, I do. Okay, have a great time. I'll see you around."

"Of course," I smiled which quickly turned into a thin line when she turned and walked towards the others, ready to greet them.

"It's weird to see your sister there, looking all gorgeous in her glory when you're here—" an unfamiliar voice spoke, "—leaning against the wall, looking like you wish to be anywhere but here. At least put a smile on that face."

Turning my head towards the voice, I raised my brows at the unknown man wearing a grey suit, his blonde hair falling on his face and blue eyes twinkling with mischief. He had a glass of champagne between his fingers as he raised it in my face before taking a large sip.

"Carter, is it?" I asked, tilting my head to the side, reminding of the familiar man. He nodded, grinning sheepishly, "Athena, is it?"

"How's your father?" I questioned, "last time I saw him, he was dead." He let out a low chuckle, shaking his head, "I've always adored your sense of humour."

"Glad you do," I smirked which he mirrored before biting his lip, "I have always known you were a fucking psycho."

"Keep your voice low, darling." I fixed the bracelet on my wrist, "wouldn't want anyone to find out about that now, would we?"

"Of course not," he nodded, faking understanding, "what would they think if they were to find out about the boy who paid a psycho to kill his father? What a scandal, right?"

"The boy who is now the CEO of the Kings Enterprises," I added with a nod, "it would be a scandal, indeed."

"Indeed, it would." He agreed, finishing his drink, "so, I've seen you hanging out at Alessio Romano's club the other day."

I faked a gasp, "have you been stalking me, Kingsley? Don't tell me that you've taken a liking in the psycho?"

He smirked, eyes raking me up and down, "maybe I did."

"Well, I'd suggest you stop right away because whatever you think you're doing is not working," I said, ignoring the frown that settled onto his face at my words. "And stop giving me that look unless you wanna end up like your father." Without giving him the chance to say anything else, I walked away.

I heard a loud laugh coming from someone—my sister, precisely, which made me snap my head in her direction. She had an empty glass in her hand as she was laughing to whatever the guy in front of her was saying.

My eyes widened when I saw who the guy was. Sean Blackwood. Unlike my sister, he didn't look amused at all.

Narrowing my eyes in suspicion, I made my way towards them and caught a part of what Clarissa said to him, "—I loved it!"

"Loved what?" I questioned, now standing beside her. Sean's eyes flickered to me and he shot me a confused look, "what the fuck are you doing here?"

"Wait, how do you two know each other?" Clarissa inquired, eyes darting from me and Sean back and forth.

"We met the other day. It's not important," I waved her off, looking at Sean who had his brows furrowed.

"How are you doing?" I asked with a smile which made his eyes widen a little before he instantly composed himself, nodding as he replied, his voice void of emotions like always, "fine. How about yourself?"

"Splendid," I replied, still smiling at him as I glanced at Clarissa who seemed pleased with my behaviour and smiled brightly before saying, "oh, that's my sister, Athena, if you didn't know."

"Your sister?" Repeated the American mafia leader earning a nod from both me and Clarissa. He cleared his throat, eyes staring at me with suspicion clear in his eyes. "Interesting."

"So, the... uh—" Clarissa paused, she seemed hesitant to ask but did anyway, "what about the deal?"

What deal?

"Come to my office tomorrow at six in the evening and we will see," Sean replied which made her smile again for whatever reason. His eyes fell on someone behind us as he excused himself and walked away.

As soon as he did, Clarissa turned to me, "oh my god, he's so hot!"

"Excuse me?"

"Sean is so god damn hot!" She exclaimed, jumping excitedly, "I can't believe he asked me out on a date—well, not a date. He didn't say date, he said dinner but I suppose that's the same thing. Isn't it?"

"He did?" My eyes unconsciously darted to Sean who was busy talking to a man I didn't recognise.

What game was he playing at?

"Yes! I'm so happy!" Clarissa's grin was so large that made me pity her. While she thought that the guy was somewhat interested in her, I knew he had other intentions.
