Sean and I arrived at the large mansion for the Charity ball. I wasn't surprised to see the place crowding with people. There were a large amount of cars outside, people grouping themselves with their families, some women staring at their cars' mirrors to see whether they looked fine enough, some retouching their makeups. They all wore beautiful fancy gowns, men wore classic tuxedos, matching with their wives, girlfriends, mistresses or whatever.

I watched as they walked towards the entrance where they were checked by the two security men there. So weapons were not allowed? Too bad. I had my hostler on my thighs with both my knife and gun. I frowned at that. I felt naked without them.

"We're not going through them," Sean, who was standing beside me spoke up as if reading my thoughts.

I turned to him, my brows furrowed, "what?"

"The security," he clarified, "we aren't going through them. We can bring weapons unlike the others."

"I'm guessing Enzo, Alessio and the others who are related to the family can as well?" He only gave me a nod in response as I glanced at the entrance then back at him, "why aren't you going in?"

"I'm waiting for you," he replied as he leaned against his car, "why aren't you?"

"Well, I'm waiting for you."

"Well, let's go."

"Do we have to?" I asked in a low unsure voice, my eyes going back to the entrance which was crowded with people. I hated crowds, especially when they were all potentially dangerous people. And the bad feeling I was getting was not helping at all.

"Yes, we do." His hand reached out to grab mine, interlocking our fingers which made me look up at him. He only flashed me a smile in response before saying, "let's get this shit over with."

"All right," I straightened myself, taking a deep breath, "let's get this shit over with."

"Don't leave my side," he said to which I hummed, giving him a nod as we made our way towards the door. The two security men only gave Sean a nod before they let us in.

"Sean!" I heard a somewhat familiar voice exclaimed which made both Sean and I turn our heads towards the sound, finding Maria standing there with Ricardo or something like that beside her, an arm draped around her waist. They marched towards us, dazzling smiles on their faces.

"Athena, is it?" Maria asked, her eyes shifting to me, "his girlfriend?"

"Maria, is it?" I asked back earning a nod from the older woman. She still had her smile on her face which was kind of concerning. Why would she smile that much— "you look absolutely stunning in that dress. It compliments you so well, dear."

Maria was wearing a dress which was both Red and black. She kinda looked like a ladybug— but she didn't have to know that. "You look gorgeous yourself."

Sean let out a cough at that which went unnoticed by the two.

"My, my, Sean, don't you look dashing in that suit!" Maria said with a slight gasp as she stared at Sean. Not gonna lie, he did look amazing. But that wasn't an excuse to ogle at my guy.

Before Sean could say anything, Maria was quick to add, "I'm so glad you two came!"

"We did come, didn't we?" Sean asked under his breath making my eyes widen slightly at the reference. He then cleared his throat, "well, Alessio kinda told us to come in his place," Sean ratted him out without seconds thoughts. I glanced at him to find him giving Maria a sheepish smile. The woman's smile turned into a scowl, "he— what? Oh he's in bad if he thought his absence would be excused if you two came! That boy is so delusional. I'm going to call him right away!"

"Leave him alone," Ricardo grumbled, bringing a hand to his forehead before he slightly rubbed it as if tired of his wife's antics. He then looked at us, "thank you for coming, both of you. Have a great night!"

"Sure," Sean muttered before asking, "where's Lea?"

"Talking to some guests with Enzo," Maria replied, pointing to some direction, "ah, there they are." My eyes followed her finger and found the family of four, looking as perfect as always. Lea was wearing a red dress while Enzo had a black suit on. Nick and Elisa were matching as well, both wearing red outfits. Cute. "Don't they look great?"

"They do," I found myself answering just as Nick's eyes caught mine. He flashed me a wide smile before he muttered something to his parents which made them look at me as well. Enzo shot me a nod while Lea gave me a small wave which I returned as she mouthed, discretely pointing to the couple they were talking to, 'I'll be there in a second. Business partner.’

I nodded at that while Nick began making his way towards us, fixing his tie as he walked.

"Hey, Thena," he flashed me a wide smile as he came to stand between me and Sean, pushing him away a little before he grabbed my hand, "and ugh, hey, Sean..." He gave Sean a bored look which Sean returned with a roll of his eyes, "hey— I forgot your name because you're not important."

"You're an ass," Nick shot Sean a blank look earning a laugh from Maria and Ricardo who said sternly, "language."

"I'll watch my language when my parents watch theirs," Nick said with a small smirk, "guess that will never happen."

"These two need to realise that there are kids in their house for the love of god!" Maria grumbled as she and Ricardo began making their way to greet other guests.

"What have you been up to?" I questioned the five something year old guy who shrugged, "school. Girls. The usual."

"Oh wow," Sean drawled out sarcastically, "that must be hard."

"You have no idea," Nick responded with a small dramatic sigh, "I mean, literally. It's not like you've ever had any girls after you. You don't know the feeling."

"Yeah, I totally don't." Sean muttered with a nod, "hey, how would you feel about some real important work?"

I furrowed my brows at that. What was he up to?

"Is it finally my time to shine?," he asked with a small evil grin, "who do I have to kill?" His question threw me off guard. Was he serious? He couldn't possibly be, could he?

"It"s nothing like that," Sean shook his head, "I just want you to keep a close eye on your grandmother for me." Was he seriously asking a kid to spy on someone?

"My grandmother?" Nick repeated, hi eyes scanning the room in search for the person in question, "oh yeah, I can do that. She's always so secretive anyway. I bet she's got stuff to hide. Like the one time I caught her giving like a thousand of dollars to some guy she went to see outside. Then she told me that he was a friend of hers who was in need. Like hell I'd believe that."
