|Sean's POV|

Weirdly, talking to Enzo made me realise a lot of things. Which was, like I said, very weird.

For instance, he told me that tomorrow was never assured in our world. Scratch that, tonight was never assured. And so, he told me that I should grasp the opportunity and do what I wish to do since I can. Before things go south.

And he was kinda right. I didn't want to confess my undying love for Athena while she was on her deathbed like no dude. All right, that was so negative. What the hell, Sean?

What, I was internally panicking.

"So, that Cara girl," she began talking as I continued to drag her outside, "did you really take her here last year?"

"I did." I couldn't come alone and she was available.

"And then what?"

"Then what?" I asked back, continuing to walk as I ignored all the eyes on us.

After a few seconds of silence, she questioned, "what happened between you two?"

"Nothing happened," I reassured once we were outside, "no need to be jealous."

"I'm not jealous," she said firmly, "just curious. Did you guys do the deed?"

"No, we did not do the deed," I repeated, letting go of her hand as we were now outside, in the back of the place where there was a small garden kinda thing which was unoccupied— where I wanted.

Athena looked around, her brows arching as she turned back to look at me, "why are we here? If you think you can kill me, you're highly mistak—" I cut her off, finally letting go of her hand as I stood in front of her once,"—shut up."

"No, you're scaring me." She crossed her arms, shooting me a suspicious look, "if you're planning on killing me, let me tell you that I'm carrying a knife."

"All right," I scoffed, "first of all, you don't tell the person who's about to kill you that you have a knife on you. That's just plain stupid. And secondly, why the hell would I wanna kill you?"

"I don't know," she shrugged, narrowing her eyes at me, "you got bored, maybe?"

"Of you?"

"Well yeah," she cleared her throat, looking at the ground as she continued to speak, "I mean, I am pretty plain so I wouldn't be surprised if you wanna be with someone like Car— whatever her name is."

She couldn't possibly be serious, could she?

"What?" A shiver of disgust washed over me at the thought of being with someone like Cara. Gross. "Fuck, no. That's not what this is about. Why are you so negative— and why the hell do you think so low about yourself?" She raised her head to look at me which made me sigh before placing a hand on the side of her face, "you're not plain. Get that thought out of your head."

"I just feel so insecure sometimes," she muttered, a small frown settling on her lips, "like this—" She gestured between us, "isn't gonna last. I mean, you're you and I'm me— which, by the way, is nobody. You're the CEO of a great company, the leader of one of the greatest mafias out there." She shot me an exasperated look, "and who am I? No, seriously. I'm just the deranged girl who murdered half of her family."

"They deserved it," I cut in, "and you're not deranged." Not entirely. But I like that about you.

"I am," she shook her head, "Like— why would you want me?" Before I could answer, she beat me to it, lowering her voice as she said, "sometimes, this doesn't make sense to me. It doesn't feel real. Sorry, the drinks are acting up on me."

I just stood there and stared at her for what felt like hours while her eyes were looking at anywhere but me.

Was that what she seriously thought? Or was that just her insecurity talking?

"We should get back," she broke my out of my thoughts, a frown still on her face, "before we miss all the fun stuff." She turned around and was about to walk away when my hand reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her back. "No, you're not going anywhere until you've listened to what I'm going to say and get it through that thick skull of yours."

"Do I need to brace myself?" She asked, tilting her head to the side. I only gave her a shrug in response, "I don't know."

"Is it gonna break my heart?" She asked, raising her brows slightly to which I shook my head, "what? No, of course not."

"Is it—" I cut her off before she could finish her question. "— Let me talk. You just listen, yeah? Okay? Good. Now shut up. Not a word. I need to make a few things clear. Oh and give you something. I almost forgot about that."

"What th—" She cut herself off, biting her lip before shooting me an innocent look. Yes, yeah, I knew I was most definitely fucked.

New chapter right after this one. Anywayssss things are gonna get interesting but before we proceed, I'd like to make some things clear.

Before you guys go around thinking Athena is dramatic or something for saying stuff like that, can you guys just view things from her point of view here? I mean, she has every right to be insecure. Sean was someone of high status whilst she wasn't. She feels kinda unimportant compared to him and it is completely normal for her to feel this way. And she has always been kind of insecure about herself although sometimes she tries to prove to herself that she's not. Also, if you take her past into consideration, she has earned insecure.
