|Athena's POV|

On contrary to what others who knew of Azalea's reputation in the crime industry's might say, she was actually incredibly nice and fun to talk to.

As I spoke to her, I realised that she was going to accept me in a blink of an eye if I was to tell her the truth about who I was and how I was related to her but she was also probably going to kill me if she was to find out the truth by someone else. That was the kind of person I pecked her to be. Granted, we were only related through Alessio but that made us somewhat siblings nonetheless.

I've always wanted a sister— Clarissa just wasn't it. She was going to die anyway so yeah.

Lea— she told me to call her that— was telling me about Sean, not doubting even for the slightest second about my relationship with him. She was telling me how he was the reason several good things happened to her.

Sean was the person who took her to his home— despite her being a stranger back then. He helped her and they became friends. He also was the one who sent her to the Italian Mafia in the first place which was how she met Enzo and her whole life changed.

"If not for him and his alliance, I'd probably still be on my bed, watching avengers right now." Lea said with a chuckle. Avengers. Yet another thing we had in common apart from the assassin and torture stuffs. "Anyway, I wanted to tell you that he has been through a lot of shitty things so please be patient with him, okay?" Not giving me the chance to reply, she resumed, "I've never seen him dating anyone before so I was shocked when it was revealed." She flashed me a smile, "you're definitely something."

"Athena Greene, right?" She asked, humming to herself, "your name actually rings a bell. Oh wait—" she looked at me, eyes wide opened, "Sean's father's second in command's last name was also Greene. Did— are you—" she paused before taking a deep breath, "—was that your father?"

I shook my head, knowing very well why she was hesitating to ask that question. Because she killed him. I knew that. "My father's brother, actually." I responded, "we weren't close and he was a dick."

"He tried to kill Sean's father so..." Lea trailed off, sighing, "I hope you're not saying that he was a dick because I killed him so I wouldn't feel bad or something."

"I'm not," shaking my head, I added, "he was really a dick and I barely knew him anyways."

She let out a breath of relief, "okay, that's good." After a moment of silence, she spoke again, "I wanted to apologize to you for how my mom's behaving these days. She's not in her right state of mind— she's been acting weird lately."

"That's understandable." I assured, eyes falling on Sean who was looking at me. He did not bother to advert his eyes when I caught him staring, instead, he maintained eye contact. I didn't break it either until Lea's voice rang through my ear, "do you like Sean? Or love, maybe?"

I turned to her, still feeling Sean's piercing gaze on me as her question registered in my head. I took a deep breath, my acting coming up, "I don't... I don't know. I like him, I really do but I don't think we are at the love stage yet, you know? I mean, he's nice to me and all and we really like each other but we are taking things slow."

She nodded, giving me an understanding look, "that's great! I'm really happy for him— for you two. I'm glad that he's finally gotten someone. I just hope that you don't break his heart and vice–versa."

"Let's hope I don't." I muttered under my breath, something Lea couldn't catch up as she raised her brows, "what?"

"Nothing," I shot her a smile which was fake, "you should probably get back to the party. I believe that these two..." I nodded in the direction of a couple who had been standing there for longer than I could remember, "have been waiting for us to finish talking so they could talk to you."

"Really?" Lea chuckled, standing up, "oh well, if you'll excuse me." True to my words, the second she stood up, the couple made their way towards her and asked whether they could speak to her. As she walked away with them, Lea glanced at me and raised her brows at me with a smile, mouthing an 'I'm impressed' which made me smile. I like her.

The second she walked away, someone sat beside me, "look at you, bonding."

"Look at you, missing me." I shot back at the familiar person who rolled his eyes in response, "in your dreams."

"I don't dream of you." I replied a little bit too quick. Fuck you for saying that. I had actually forgotten about that fucked up dream I had— well, not anymore.

"Why do I feel like you're lying?" Sean asked, furrowing his brows as he stared at me. I looked away, "I'm not."

"Okay..." He frowned, "whatever you say." I hummed in response, fixing the bracelet on my wrist as he asked, "what is that thing on your mind?"

"What thing?" I asked back, looking at him, "there's no thing. Who told you that there's a thing? Whoever did, lied."

He shot me a look, "you getting all defensive mean that there is something."

"Even if there was something," I paused, licking my now dry lips, "I'm not gonna tell you."

"But you could tell that bartender who—" He glanced at Carter, "—by the way, you don't even know."

"How do you know I even told him anything?" I asked back, glancing at Carter who instantly looked away, caught staring. I rolled my eyes at him. Fucking snitch. "Whatever. How's that any of your business?"

"I was just curious." He shrugged, standing up, "anyway, we are leaving in fifteen minutes."
