The bad feeling I was getting was growing stronger and stronger with every passing second.
Ever since I came back inside after what happened outside with Sean— which I still was unable to believe actually happened, by the way— Azalea has been giving me weird stares as if I murdered her cat or something.
I couldn't help but stay close to Sean because to be honest? She was kind of scary at the moment. I didn't want to be alone, in fear of being ganged by the whole De Luca Family.
I could feel it in my guts— the same feeling I was getting earlier. That something was gonna happen.
I was sitting at a table with Sean beside me. He was playing with the rings on my fingers like a child and I was letting him. It was kinda funny, actually. "How would you feel if I was to give you a promise ring, hmm?" The tip of his finger was tracing the outline of the ring on my ring finger. "I'll put it here. And it's gonna stay here forever."
"Forever is a long time," I stated, my lips curling up at the thought of spending my entire life with him. His grey eyes reached out to mine, "for as long as we both shall live then. I'm not planning on letting you go, I hope you do realise that."
"I'm not planning on going anywhere either," I smiled but however, it disappeared when my eyes fell on Enzo who was also staring at me with his eyes narrowed— Azalea was beside him.
It didn't take me long to figure out that something was up. Definitely. See, I was right.
"Sean," I whispered earning a hum from him as he looked up, his brows raised, "something is going on."
"What do you mean?"
"Lea and Enzo have both been staring at me like I did something wrong," I explained, my eyes glancing at the couple who were now pretending that they weren't looking at me just a few seconds ago.
"Are you sure about that?" Sean questioned, "maybe they were just looking at you?"
"No," I shook my head, "I know those looks. I'm getting the shit's about to go down feeling."
"Okay, okay—" he muttered, glancing at them as well for a quick second before looking back at me, "— let's just pretend like we don't know anything and enjoy this night. Wait till they do something then we can solve this whole thing, all right?"
"Okay," I pursed my lips in a thin line, "yeah, let's do that."
Just then, Maria walked up the stage with a frown on her face. She wasn't happy, anyone could tell that. But why? Holding the mic close to her mouth, she began talking after clearing her throat, "good evening, ladies and gentlemen. It is with great regret that I must call off this night immediately. I apologize for the inconvenience. Some family issues just came up and the matter must be dealt with right away—" Sean and I exchanged a look at that, "—please regain your residences with my deepest apologies."
"This isn't good," I muttered while staying seated along with Sean who grabbed his half filled glass of champagne which was on the table in front of us and gulped down the whole thing.
While everyone began to leave, muttering words I was unable to hear or make out under their breaths, the De Luca family, Elizabeth,.Sean and I stayed in our places. The whole family were now looking at me which only told me that this had everything to do with me.
Elizabeth was staring at me with a bitch face and a slight smirk tugging at her lips. What did she do?
Sean let out a loud groan, "they can be very dramatic sometimes. Their intense stares are just to intimidate you. Don't worry about it."
"Don't worry about it?" I repeated, shifting slightly in my seat as I remembered who these people actually were, "it's not like they are literally a mafia family or anything and could potentially kill me within a second considering the fact that I was one against what, ten?
"They won't hurt you," Sean reassured with a shrug. He looked like he didn't care. "They value and love my alliance, friendship and attention too much for that."
"You're so full of yourself," I couldn't help but sigh, "they don't know me. They won't have a problem with getting rid of me."
Before Sean could come up with something to say, Azalea was the first one to do something as she walked towards us with a distrustful look in her eyes. She turned to Sean, "we need to talk."
"Talk," Sean leaned back in the chair, "I'm listening."
"In private," her eyes flickered to me, which confirmed my suspicion. She wished to talk to him about me. "It's important."
"I figured." Sean made no movement to get up from his seat.
"Sean—" I cut Lea off, "— look, I'm sure it's about me so why don't you get on with it already?"
"You're very observant for just a girl who hangs out at the racing club." Elizabeth was the one to respond as she walked towards us while I looked at her with nothing but pure rage in my eyes. "Who the hell are you? Because you're certainly not who you said you are!"
"Wait, I'm confused." Mar— Marlene?wait no, was that her name? or was it Marta? Whatever, Blake's wife, spoke up, "what's going on?"
"What did you tell them?" I asked the older woman whose brows raised up as if she was not expecting that question. "Hmm? What little lies did you feed them this time?"
"I only told them the truth," Elizabeth shot back, looking at Sean, "this girl is not who she says she is. You should stay away f—"
"— I know damn well who she is," Sean interrupted her dramatic dialogue, "—but who are you, really?"
