|Sean's POV|
"I told you to steal her phone, not kill her—" Alessio's voice rang through my ears. I slid my shirt on, ignoring the pain that shot through me due to my arm. "— All right. You know what? It doesn't matter. I don't care. Tell me, at least you got the phone right?"
"Yeah," I replied before asking in a sarcastic tone, "you know what else I got?"
"What?"
"Shot." I informed, "all because of a stupid phone."
"Shit," Alessio muttered, "fuck, are you okay? Was it bad? Where did you get shot? Couldn't you say that earlier?"
"No I couldn't, I was too busy lying on the bed in pain," I tried to hide the amusement in my voice as I tried to make him feel guilty.
"I'm sorry," he sighed into the phone, his tone apologetic, "I didn't know she had a gun— are you all right?"
"Yeah, Athena took care of it." I found myself smiling at that. Fuck was I smiling? I literally got shot. That was no shit to smile about.
"Athena?" Alessio repeated, "yeah, she's great, isn't she? So tell me, is there something going on between you two? You know I wouldn't mind, right?"
He wouldn't?
Wait why was I even considering this? Did I want this? Did I want her?
"Dude, are you there?" Alessio's voice snapped me back from my thoughts. "I know I just said that I'm fine with you two but that doesn't mean you can start the... fantasies already. Snap back to reality! That's my sister, you horny motherfu—"
"— I was not thinking that!" I defended, running the brush through my hair roughly and I got ready to go downstairs for breakfast, "asshole."
"Sure, you weren't." He mumbled, "okay I'll leave you to it. I'll see you when you get back, yeah? Bye." He then disconnected the call making me sigh as I stared at the now blank screen.
I wanted to tell him that Thea was alive. He would be so freaking happy— but I couldn't. I needed to wait for the right time. I didn't want to screw things up for Athena or Thea in that matter. I was just gonna play along. I promised, anyway.
With that thought, I went down for breakfast. I wasn't surprised to find Athena sitting at the table, her phone in her left hand, a toast in her right one.
"Good morning," she greeted without looking at me while I walked towards the coffee machine. "Morning."
"Good," she said making me turn to look at her and found that she was now looking at me. "What?"
"Good morning," she repeated, "now say it back like that."
"Good morning," I said, flashing her a sarcastic smile as I rolled my eyes, "happy?"
"Very much so," she nodded before going back to her toast and phone while I grabbed my coffee and went back to my room. I didn't feel like doing anything, I just wanted to stay in bed.
Fuck leaving.
We could leave tomorrow. We had absolutely no rush. Once we get back, I'll go meet Thea then take her back home.
**
I was lying in bed, watching a random movie on my laptop when I heard someone knocking on the door.
Since when did she have manners?
"Come in."
I watched as the door was pushed open and she stepped in, wearing a black tank top and a pair of shorts, her black hair loose.
"Can I help you?" I asked, pausing the movie.
"How's your arm?" She ignored my question, her eyes flickering to my injured arm, "did you clean it this morning?"
"I did," I responded, "this isn't my first rodeo, you know?"
"Yeah," she muttered, clearing her throat as she turned to leave again, "I just wanted to make sure that you're all right. I'll just leave— bye."
Just as her hand reached out for the door knob, I found myself stopping her, "wait."
What the fuck was I doing?
‘Making a move for you, you idiot. Since neither of you seem to be doing it,’ some sick voice snarled in the back of my head.
She turned around almost instantly, her eyes holding some sort of relief— as if she was glad I stopped her. Was she? "Yeah?"
"Do you—" I paused, clearing my throat. Why was I being so awkward? Suck it up. "— do you wanna watch a movie with me?"
"Of course—" she nodded, her face heating up at her excitement while I only stared at her in amusement, "— I mean, yes."
"Great," I motioned for her to get on the bed, in the space next to me which she did. I placed the laptop close to her so she would be able to see but she was a bit far. "Come closer."
She scooted a bit closer, her shoulder brushing mine and I could feel her looking at me at the corner of her eyes. Internally groaning at at her sudden shyness, I wrapped my arm— the uninjured one of course— around her shoulder and pulled her close enough so that her head was resting on my shoulder.
"What are you doing?"
"Making ourselves comfortable," I responded, allowing my arm to drop once she shifted a little, now lying on her side as her head was resting on my chest. My heart was beating faster than it should and she was probably able to feel that shit. I quite liked that position we were in. It felt nice.
