|Athena's POV|
Months ago, if you had asked me whether I could see myself with Sean Blackwood, the American Mafia leader no less, my answer would've been a huge laugh in your face followed by a loud 'never'— but the future's unpredictable.
Yet here I was, lying on the soft sand as the peaceful sound of the waves crashing on the shore filled my ears. The sun was setting, the view in front of me was absolutely mesmerising. That and Sean's head which was resting on my lap as he played some childish game on his phone, paying no attention to what was going on around him.
My fingers ran through his soft brown hair as I tilted my head a bit to the side to stare at his perfect as hell face.
"Any reason why you're staring at me?" He mumbled, not bothering to remove his eyes from his phone.
"You're pretty."
A small laugh went past his lips which made a smile reach my face. "Wow, I'm receiving compliments from the oh so great—"
"— Don't ruin it," I interrupted his sentence, "just take the compliment like the good little boy you are."
"Me?" He scoffed as if what I just said was completely absurd, "a good boy? Darling, you must be out of your mind."
"You are a good boy," I nodded to myself, my fingers momentarily pausing their movements in his hair, "despite what you say."
"How so?" He glanced at me, bringing his own hand to place on mine on his head, "continue doing that."
"Well, for one," I resumed my action of playing with his hair, "you literally do whatever I tell you to."
"Oh, do I now?" He placed his phone beside him and propped on his elbows, lifting his head off my lap as he did so. He faced me, his eyes boring into mine, "because I think it's quite the opposite."
"No, you're my good boy—"
"— Don't say that again." He cut me off earning a laugh from me.
"Does someone don't want anyone else to know how much of a good—" I was rudely cut off when a small figure covered my sun light by standing behind my head. Before I could register what was happening, a bucket of sand was spilled all over my face.
I was quick to sit up straight but that didn't stop some sand from entering my mouth, the taste making me gag.
What the fuck?
"Oh my—" Sean scrambled up to his feet, "fuckin' hell, Nick!"
A loud laugh erupted from the one responsible for my current condition. I brushed the sand away from my face and ran a hand through my hair to get rid of those stuck in there. I hated that feeling.
Standing up, I looked down at Nick who was laughing while holding the now empty bucket of sand.
Why was he here again?
Oh, right. Alessio decided that we should all go to the beach to have a fun day. By we, I meant, Azalea, Enzo, Alessio himself, Thea, Sean and me. I suppose Nick just decided to... tag along.
"I'm sorry," he gave me a sheepish smile, "I couldn't stop myself."
"I didn't sign up for this," I shook my head with a sigh, "go annoy your parents or something."
"Oh, you mean the boring idiots?" He arched an eyebrow, looking far older than his age. "They're inside. Ess says they're busy making me another sibling and told me not to disturb so..." He raised his arms in the air then dropped them to his sides, "here I am!"
