Tessa's Point of View...
6 months later...
I sleep in my bedroom at our Washington penthouse. Hardin and I decided to come back to Washington once Hope and Elsa got discharged from the hospital. After Hope's surgery, our baby started responding to medicines within hours and after 48 hours of observation, she was allowed to move back to my room along with Elsa.
We stayed in Germany for about 4 months until I decided to move back home. Washington is where I belong. The home that I share with the man I love. Hardin. We were finally able to move past our differences and our past mistakes. Hardin forgave me for leaving him so abruptly, for not telling him about the pregnancy and I forgave him for keeping secrets from me.
Now we live happily with our two daughters in our Washington penthouse. Hardin recently started going back to work, he has been working from home. He comes back tomorrow from his business trip which he didn't want to go. I somehow convinced Hardin to not put the business on the back burner for us and he agreed but I knew he was not happy to leave me and our daughters for two weeks.
I hear some noise coming from the nursery. When I turn, I only see Elsa sleeping beside me, Hope is missing. Since Hardin went on the business trip, I decided to sleep with Hope and Elsa with me on our bed, this way I felt less lonely, and knowing a part of Hardin sleeping beside me always helped.
I tie my robe and slip on my slippers to walk out of the bedroom. As I move near the nursery room, the sounds that were coming earlier suddenly stops. When I enter the nursery room, the scene in front of my eyes takes my breath away.
"Hardin what are you doing here? You were not supposed to come back until tomorrow?"
He smiles from his position on the recliner chair. He is holding Hope in his arms and she is sleeping peacefully in her father's embrace.
"Love you too..,"
I roll my eyes at Hardin's teasing. Somehow it has increased ten times since we had Hope and Elsa.
"I love you, you know I do,"
"I don't know, you looked pretty shocked to see me."
"It's because you called me a couple of hours ago from Ohio, telling me you will be home tomorrow, what changed?"
"Nothing, babe, I just thought to surprise my wife."
I close the distance between us taking Hardin's extended arms. I bent to capture his lips, passionately kissing my husband. We continue to make out until Hope makes a funny noise, making both of us laugh.
"What are you doing here with Hope, I got scared when I didn't find her beside me."
"Ohh..sorry babe. When I came, she was wide awake. She saw me and started throwing her arms and legs, I took her with me so that she doesn't disturb her mother and her little sister."
I smile at Hardin's thoughtfulness.
"You are the best father, you know that.."
Hardin shakes his head.
"No, I don't. You remind me every time, that's the best part."
"Ok, mister. You get fresh and go to bed, you must be exhausted. I will look after Hope, she is already asleep, I will put her in bed with Elsa."
"Let me do it. I have missed all three of you."
"Hardin are you sure?"
He just nods and stands up from the recliner chair.
