 "You're hot then you're cold

You're yes then you're no."

- Excerpt from Hot N Cold by Katy Perry

I barely can comprehend what this man told me before he shoves me out of the way. He leaves me at the bottom of the stairs and goes upstairs in his room and slams the door.

I want to cry. Why would he do something like that? He didn't even consult me at first.

I grab my bag that I dropped on the floor during our argument, and go up into the room that I woke up in.

I sit on my bed and put my face in my hands trying to contain the anger and sadness of the situation.

I hate this man now.

My only source of income now is gone. What am I going to do now?

I feel a tear fall down my face. Recently, I have been crying much more than necessary. My life is falling apart.

I hear a knock on my door and look up.

"Lorenzo, go away," I shout, but my voice breaks halfway through.

"It's me," I hear Dariya say. I don't want people seeing me cry but it's Dariya. At least Lorenzo is not here.

She better not try to convince me that her brother is in the right because he most certainly is in the wrong.

"Okay," I whisper. Thankfully, Dariya manages to hear that and she enters the room. She has a concerned look and I have a feeling that she's on my side.

"It's okay," she consoles, wrapping an arm around me. She pats my back and it reminds me of what Lorenzo did last night when I was crying.

He was so nice before. Why is he being mean now?

"Brielle," Lorenzo says and I look to my door in anger. I feel hatred towards him right now.

Lorenzo is now dressed in a dress shirt and dress pants. While he is entering the room, he adjusts his tie.

At this point, I have to mooch off of him because I have no money. What about my debt? What about everything else?

Lorenzo comes in front of me and stoops down.

"Dariya leave," he tells her and she lets go of me and leaves the room. I'm now alone with this man.

"I'm sorry, Angel," he apologizes, "But it can't happen again. You could've been raped or worse if I didn't come in time."

He's not wrong and I have to admit that.

"Why did I have to quit?"

He grabs my hand, "This happened because of your job. You could meet worse men than that man. No more of it," he explains.

"Can I get my stuff from my house?" I ask.

"Yeah, Elijah would take you because Cai will be with me." he says, kissing my forehead, "Mne zhal', moya lyubov'."

I have no idea what he said but it's alright.

I walk up to the dresser and stare at myself in the mirror. Everything is fine, I also don't have dry tears on my face.

I go downstairs and see the black man again, I assume he's Elijah, and he is sitting on the couch.

"Are you Elijah?" I ask.
