Joker smiled as Harley nuzzled up to him

It was the first cold night Gotham has had for a long while, the nights were slowly getting darker earlier, more and more people left their windows closed, and more people started prepping for Halloween and Christmas, most people would call it winter, but Harley referred to it as “Cuddling season,” because it was the best season for cuddling in bed with her puddin.

“You comfy, Baby?” He asked as he wrapped his arm around her. Harley nodded.

Joker reached to grab the TV remote from the nightstand. “What do you want to watch, Honey?” Harley shrugged. ”I just wanna cuddle.” J chuckled. “Alright, Cutie.”

After looking through Netflix for a couple of minutes, they both settled on a true crime documentary because…they are themselves.

“Puddin, I’m cold..” Harley whined, about 20 minutes or so into the documentary. “I’ll go put the heating on for you, Baby,” J said, kissing her head and moving to get out of bed, but Harley grabbed onto his arm, preventing him from getting up. ”Noo, Stay.”

J was quiet for a quick moment. “Sweetheart….I have to get up to turn the heating on.”

“Can’t you turn it on and stay here?” J let out a small laugh. “Why don’t I get Frost to do it, Is that alright, Baby?” She nodded, pulling J back to herself.

Joker picked up his phone and typed a text to Frost.

“Frost, Harley won’t let me leave again. Turn on the heating, will you?”

He waited a few minutes before he got a text back.

“Yes, Boss.”

A few more minutes went by before there was another text.

“Done.”

Joker turned back to Harley, showing her the texts. “There you go, Darling.”

Harley smiled and cuddled back into him, still holding onto his arm. Joker pulled the blanket further over them and continued watching the documentary, of course criticising the killer and pointing out what “Obvious” things could be done to not get caught.

Harley started making small happy noises as she felt the house get warmer, making Joker chuckle. “You’re just adorable,” he said as Harley snuggled closer to him and pulled the blanket tighter around herself. “Warm,” she said, her voice small and quiet. “You look very warm, Sweetie,” he said, silently adoring his sweet angel. “Like a sleepy little kitten.” he reached to move some hair away from her eye. “Don’t let it get in your eye, Doll.”

Harley looked up at J, an unsure look on her face.

The documentary had ended a few moments ago, and they have long since returned to their original cuddling position.

“Puddin, Can I ask ya’ something?” Joker looked at her with a smile. “Of course, Baby, what’s wrong?”

Harley looked hesitant but still went through with her question. “Have you ever called another girl ‘Your baby’ or ‘Baby girl?’”

She didn’t want to sound overbearing, but the little thought that came into her mind a few nights ago had been slowly eating away at her, she needed some closure.

The nicknames “Baby” and “Baby girl,” were both very special to both of them, it was the same with “Daddy,” they had profound meanings to them and the thought of Joker saying that to someone else made her feel sick.

To Harley’s relief, Joker shook his head. “No, Never. you always have, and always will be my only baby girl,” he said, kissing her on the forehead. “Have you ever called another man ‘Daddy’ as you do to me?” Joker had never really thought about this before, but he couldn’t help but ask her, fully ready to have beautiful dreams of ripping some random man’s throat out if she said yes.

Harley shook her head.

“No one’s ever deserved such a special name. Nobody has ever treated me with as much love and care as you do, that’s why I call you Daddy.” Joker nodded his head in agreement.

Joker prides himself on being Daddy to her because he knows what it really means.

He is Harley’s protector and carer in many ways, he’s a loving, strong figure that she can go to when she needs help, affirmation, love, support, comfort, safety, anything. He is a person that she knows she can tell anything to without an ounce of judgement. If she has something on her mind that’s bothering her, she just says, “I’ll tell Daddy about it, he can help me,” or if she simply can’t reach something it’ll be “Daddy’s tall, he can reach it for me.”

Joker finds it quite offensive when people brush it off as just some sexy nickname, it feels like his special title is being downplayed into something meaningless and strictly sexual instead of being a way of expressing love and trust.

Joker gently held Harley’s face in his hand. “I love you so much, Princess. Your Daddy loves you so much.” He leaned in, kissing her softly on the lips. “Your Baby loves you so much,” she replied, and Joker gently bumped his nose with hers, making her let out a giggle.

”How did I get so lucky?” she asked. “You’re the best man I’ve ever met, Why am I the woman that gets this?”

“Darling, It’s me that should ask this. You’re the sweetest, most beautiful woman I’ve ever known, I don’t know why I've been blessed with having you." Harley opened her mouth to speak, but he wasn't finished.

"No one is worthy of you, Honey. Not a single man, woman, or anyone of any gender, deserves someone as gorgeous and perfect as you, my Dear.” Harley felt tears come to her eyes.

“That’s exactly why I said you’re the best man I’ve ever met, you say things like that and make me feel so loved.”  Joker gently wiped away a tear that slipped from her eye. “Shhh, please don’t cry, My love. You know Daddy hates seeing his Baby cry.”

Harley placed her head back against J’s chest, letting her eyes close, feeling all the weight lift off her shoulders. “My Daddy,” she smiled as Joker placed yet another kiss on her forehead.

“My baby.”

Fun fact, the bit where Harley asks if J ever called another girl his baby was actually meant to go in a oneshot I made awhile ago called "Late nights." I wrote it prior on my phone because I didn't want to forget it, then when I was writing it I forgot to put it in and didn't realize until weeks later and it was published. I kept it in my notes to put in something because I did like the scene, and there was nothing directly tying it to "Late nights," so I eventually repurposed it for this. I made a few adjustments and added some depth, but it mostly remains the same:)
