Summary:

She followed her eyesight, only to find they were on a bashful Ajax, grinning in his Joker costume. Wednesday bit the inside of her cheek.

"Focus." She scolded, hitting Enid in the back slightly with her paddle. Enid jumped back into position, arms at the ready to paddle. Wednesday cleared the fog forming in her mind, letting only one thought consume her. She had to win.
Or, 4 times Wednesday gets jealous and +1 time when she is assured she doesn't need to.

1.

Wednesday has always had a fascination with flowers.

She liked the simple way that with just a difference in colour and shape, they could all tell their own separate story and moral. It's always easy to tell about a person, based on the flowers they give on an occasion. Lilies and roses at a funeral are a commoner's mistake, carnations and orchids are easily the best and smartest arrangement.

And if you were at a wedding, a smart person would give Calla Lily's and Gardenia to the newly wed, celebrating their rebirth and love as a couple tied together forever.

So, upon arriving at Nevermore, Wednesday thought the most logical thing to fill up the gaps in her eventless life would be to join the school's botanical class.

And what a terrible decision it was.

Wednesday, like always, came to the quick realisation that she was far too advanced for everybody in this class. She's not one to praise herself, but will acknowledge it when it is needed. She's fairly certain most people only joined this class to sneak glances at school heartthrob Xavier Thorpe. Whom she had the misfortune of being assigned to sit next to.

"Yes Miss, I can write the answer on the board right now." Bianca smiled, cocking her head to the side and eyeing Wednesday with a smug grin. Mrs Thornhill remained oblivious to the silent competition between the two, (although it was very one-sided, because Wednesday could not care less), and excitedly invited Bianca up to the chalkboard to write her answer and thought process. Wednesday remained stoic, watching Bianca scribble on the blackboard with disinterest.

"Hey, check this out."

God, Wednesday thinks, will he ever stop annoying her?

She turns begrudgingly, eyeing Xavier with severe deadpan, not that Xavier minds, and notices his notebook open, a rather detailed but rushed charcoal sketch of a spider etched into the paper. His eyes glanced at her carefully, reassuring himself that she was watching, and returned back to the drawing with a cocky grin. He waved his hand over the drawing with a practiced motion, and then, the drawing crookedly sprung to life, climbing out of the page and breathing the Nevermore air.

A couple gasps and giggles erupt from behind the two, effectively making Xaviers smug grin grow bigger, but his eyes don't leave Wednesdays, seeking her approval.

And sure, Wednesday is a bit impressed. She watches the stiffly drawn legs of the spider crack and twist, running around the desk. Yeah, in any other context, this would be an impressive trick. But that's all it was. A party trick. And the fact that the creator was Xavier Thorpe made Wednesday even less accepting of it. She brought a swift hand in the air, smashing it against the table and making the spider poof into thin air with it. Charcoal dust wafted out from underneath her hand. More giggles sprouted around the room, this time with less awe and more humour, and Xavier gave Wednesday a shocked look, before scoffing and returning his attention to the teacher.

Wednesday did not mind if the boy beside her was pissed, now eyes searching around the room for something even a fraction more interesting to turn her attention to.
