Enid wore thick, fuzzy, purple sweatpants, a light-pink hoodie, and a hot-pink jean jacket on top. A warm, purple, knitted beanie with cat ears sticking out of the sides wrapped her head comfortably. She basked in the contentment as she walked alongside Wednesday on their way back to their dorm. Currently, they were on a forest trail leading from Jericho to Nevermore. Half a foot of soft snow layered the forest grounds, soaking the girls' footwear as they trudged onwards. The sky was a solid, light shade of gray—the typical state of a cold winter afternoon. The thin trees around them were absolutely dead and their gnarled branches jutted out unpleasantly. Dripping, large, sharp icicles hung from them rather dangerously. Freezing wind blew harshly against their faces ever so frequently. The scene around them seemed to be an utterly dreadful one to most individuals, but Enid respectfully disagreed. She loved winter walks, she loved getting cozy in the cold, she loved the weather, and she loved these woods.
And despite the conditions, Enid sighed serenely and gazed down at her roommate. She absentmindedly studied Wednesday for several moments before realizing with wide eyes that the girl was shivering slightly. She realized how cold she must've been, someone her size only wearing a thin sweater with a light jacket in conditions like this.
Enid quickly slipped off her hot-pink jean jacket and held it out to Wednesday. "Here, take my jacket."
"Why?" Wednesday asked, shifting her shoulder away from the jacket and looking at Enid curiously.
"'Cause you're, like, freezing right now," Enid said with a knowing grin.
"I don't need your revolting jacket," Wednesday bit out. "And I'm rather fond of the cold."
As soon as the last word left her mouth, she shivered horribly. Enid rolled her eyes and shoved the jacket in her arms.
"Just put it on," she groaned.
"And if I don't?" Wednesday challenged, glaring up at her. Enid's stomach fluttered and she felt her skin heat up. She sighed and looked ahead.
"'Kay, don't then." She held the jacket under her arm as they trekked.
Wednesday kept silent. Enid looked down at her every now and then and noticed the shivering girl casting brief glances at the vibrant jacket under her arm.
"You're sure you don't want to put it on," Enid prompted finally, lifting an overhanging dead branch out of Wednesday's way.
Wednesday looked to the snowy forest ahead. "I hardly desire making contact with something as blaring and vibrant as such."
"You hugged me once, you know," Enid dared. "You've described me as blaring and vibrant plenty of times."
Wednesday's eyebrows furrowed, creating a familiar crease on her forehead. Enid smiled to herself. "That was an entirely different situation, clearly."
"You'd look good in it. Just try it, come on!"
Wednesday let out a quiet grunt of frustration—whether at her or the low temperature, Enid couldn't tell. "I will not."
"You keep looking at it! You know you want to," Enid insisted. "We have, like, fifteen minutes until we reach the school. You can't seriously expect to last that long in a light sweater and unzipped hoodie."
