In which Wednesday is Wednesday and Enid misinterprets the situation.

————————————————————-

Enid would be lying if she said she was doing okay, this past week had been terrible. It all started when she practically begged Wednesday to wear their matching snoods to town for Nevermore's outreach day. Wednesday had gotten this weird look on her face before shutting Enid down, she could've at least had the nerve to let her down slowly.

Instead Enid turned on her heel, tears threatening to fall out the brim of her eyes, and the discomfort of white hot embarrassment pooling in her chest.

"Fine, I'll just go ahead and head out with Yoko, don't wait up."

Enid shook her head, it's been a week since then so why does the thought of it still bring bile to her throat? It might have something to do with the fact that she has been avoiding her roommate like the plague. Enid didn't really mean to, she started off feeling heartbroken, then angry, then heartbroken again. It was a vicious cycle really.

So when Wednesday would head towards the group table at lunch she would conveniently remember she had an assignment she needed to study for, or when they would lock eyes in the hallway Enid quickened her pace in the opposite direction. And if Enid just so happened to come home later when Wednesday would be fast asleep it was just pure coincidence...

"Enid, I can practically feel your dark cloud from across the table, it's kind of bumming me out." Yoko sighed, giving the blonde an exasperated look.

"Sorry Yoko! Just lost in thought."

The vampire hummed, pitying the girl, and decidedly taking a sip from her straw. Thank god for Yoko, Enid couldn't handle being asked about Wednesday now.

Unfortunately Bianca took no such pity for the girl.

"Can the both of you just kiss and make up? I'm getting tired of kicked puppy Enid and slightly stabbier Wednesday," Bianca jabbed at her salad, mumbling "I didn't even think that was possible for her."

Enid opened her mouth to object when a hand suddenly appeared on her shoulder, she would know that black nail polish anywhere. Her body stiffened, the response dying in her throat, heart trying to beat itself out of her chest.

"Enid, we need to talk."

"Wednesday! That's so funny that you're here, I was just about to leave for the library so I can work on a project!" Enid stuttered out her response, grimacing at herself.

The raven haired girl sighed, turning Enid around by her shoulders to face her, "Enid. This is your 10th project this week and we have the same classes."

"Extra Credit?"

"Your feeble attempts at deception lead me to believe you've been avoiding me."

Bianca and Yoko exchange a look, "Are you both really going to do this right in front of my salad? It's making me lose my appetite."

Wednesday was quick to respond, not breaking her gaze at Enid, "The siren's right, her presence is making me nauseous."

And with that Wednesday spun on her heel, keeping her grip on Enid and practically dragging the girl towards the dorms as the siren flipped her off.

Yoko and Bianca gazed at the pair as they walked off, Enid throwing Yoko a pleading gaze as they left.
