Summary:

Enid Sinclair hates the scars on her face. Everyone stares at them, even as she tries her best to keep them hidden. Wednesday Addams stares at Enid's scars too. And this makes Enid hate her scars less.

The barista looked at the name scribbled onto the cup, which contained an iced coffee that was about fifty-percent cream. The new guy working the counter with him didn't exactly have the most legible handwriting. He had gotten to used to working the counter with Tyler but, apparently, he turned out to be some sort of "Hyde" or whatever that was murdering the citizens of the town.

The details still weren't clear to him so he pushed out these thoughts and called the name that he was able to make out from the cup.

"Eniz", he called out. "I have an iced coffee here for Eniz?"

No one was coming over. No one was responding. So he looked at the cup again to make sure he had gotten the name right. He couldn't exactly make out what else it was supposed to be so he kept trying.

"Eniz? Anyone hear have Eniz?"

"Excuse me", a feminine voice chimed in. "Is that supposed to say 'Enid'?"

The new co-worker, clearly more than a little bit high, looked over at the man he was shadowing. "Yeah, man. That totally says 'Enid'."

The barista rolled his eyes and chose to let this go. They were too busy to get into an argument about handwriting. "Enid?"

The young girl named Enid waltzed over the counter, a large pink scarf-like clothing accessory covering about half her face. "Right here", she chirped. Despite half of her face being obscured, she wore a smile that could not be hidden. The color palette of her clothing was an indicator that there was rarely a time when she wasn't smiling.

"Here you go", he said, handing her the coffee. "Nice scarf."

"Snood", Enid corrected. "It's a- It's a snood".

"Oh, yeah, of course", the barista said, having no idea what a snood is. With Enid standing right on the other side from him, he noticed something red on her face, coming out from just under her snood. "Uh..." He pointed to the right side of his face. "I think you have something on your face there".

It was, indeed, rare for Enid to not be smiling. However, when the barista pointed out what he figured was some sort of stain on her face, the smile changed. It became more toothy and now closely resembled a forced smile. "Thank you! Have a good day!" She spoke hurriedly so as to end the talk as quickly as possible before she shuffled out of the coffee shop. All the while, the barista simply wondered what had just occurred.

As Enid began her walk back to Nevermore Academy, she pulled on her snood, hoping to cover up any visibility of what the barista had noticed. He didn't mean any harm. He was just some Normie. He just knew that there was a nearby school for "gifted youngsters", as some would describe them. He didn't know that she was the werewolf who helped take down the sheriff's son. He didn't know that she was scarred for life.

Literally. As a result of the battle with Tyler Galpin the Hyde, Enid Sinclair was now bearing facial scars. She think that they were anything to be proud of even if Wednesday - the girl she saved and the girl she would eventually come to call hers - suggested they were. She didn't try too hard to hide them while she was at Nevermore. She didn't need to. Everyone there knew what she was and what she did. She was nothing short of a hero. So why didn't she see the scars as heroic?
