Summary:

Enid hears Wednesday laugh for the first time and realizes she needs to hear it more. Cue the jokes. Wednesday finds it endearing.

———————————————

Wednesday typed away at her novel, only to pause with a frustrated grunt. Recently, she'd been having trouble with writer's block. It didn't help that Enid took every opportunity possible to talk to her, and Wednesday didn't have the heart to deny her anything.

"So we're alone for a while," Enid declared. She skipped over to the center of their room, hands behind her back.

Wednesday didn't look up from her typewriter, but she did pause in her actual typing. "Indeed. Thing is out with Uncle Fester and Goody hasn't appeared for a while."

Wednesday had explained who Goody was to Enid, only to be surprised when Enid told her that she had met Goody a few times. Goody had explained later that when she healed Wednesday, their souls had merged, meaning she could now be seen by Enid if Goody wished due to Wednesday and Enid being soulmates.

Enid hummed, snapping Wednesday out of her thoughts. "Does that mean we can cuddle?" she asked, holding out the last word with a mischievous glint in her eyes.

Wednesday sighed. She pushed herself away from her desk and stood. She turned to the werewolf and walked over, holding her arms up slightly as her answer.

Enid's face lit up and she bounded forward, nearly tackling the shorter girl in her enthusiasm. Wednesday stumbled back a few steps with a grunt. She wrapped her arms tightly around the blonde in an attempt to catch her balance.

Enid quickly began running her hands up and down Wednesday's back in a pattern the werewolf knew she liked. Wednesday let out a content noise at the feeling, melting into the hug. Enid walked them over to Wednesday's bed, as Wednesday stated she still had trouble being near Enid's, and sat them both down, practically sitting on Wednesday's lap.

Enid's hand ghosted over Wednesday's side, and the resulting sound made her pause. She pulled back slightly, looking Wednesday in the eye, who quickly averted her gaze as her face flushed.

"Did... did you just giggle?" Enid gasped. A grin split across her face. It was the most beautiful sound she had ever heard.

"No," Wednesday deadpanned. She wanted to pull away to hide her face, but couldn't due to Enid sitting on her.

"You totally did! You're ticklish!"

"I am not 'ticklish'," Wednesday denied. "I am simply not accustomed to human contact outside of torturing my enemies." She muttered the next part under her breath, "And the times where I was the one harmed."

Enid, who had heard that due to her werewolf hearing, elected to ignore it to not bring down the mood.

"Okay, okay, I won't tickle you," she conceded. "But know that your laugh is fantastic."

Wednesday turned her stare to look directly into Enid's eyes. "Really?" she asked, dumbfounded. "Most people who hear it outside my family say it sounds maniacal." Not that she minded, in fact, she took it as a compliment. But her laughter was not something she was willing to share with others, and thus, she rarely ever laughed.

Enid nodded. "It's beautiful! Please do it again!"

"No."

Enid gave her saddest puppy dog eyes.

"I can't just laugh on command," Wednesday said, her resolve weakening.

"Then I can tell jokes!" Enid suggested, snapping her fingers.

"Why didn't the skeleton go to the dance?"

Wednesday groaned.

"Because he had nobody to go with!"

Wednesday will hate herself forever for the tiny snicker that escaped from her lips.

"What do you call a fake noodle?"

Wednesday buried her face in Enid's shoulder.

"An impasta!"

Wednesday broke. Laughter spilled from her mouth as she shook with the force of it. Enid's face nearly split open with the giant grin that crossed her face.

Wednesday leaned back, covering her mouth with her hand in an attempt to stifle the laughter. Enid grabbed her hand, holding it between both of hers as she began to chuckle as well.

"I can't believe the Wednesday Addams is laughing at my corny jokes!" Enid managed between choked laughter.

The seer shook her head, tears flying from her closed eyes. "I can't either," she admitted. She opened her eyes and simply watched Enid as she laughed.

Both of their laughter began to die off as they slowly turned their attention into watching each other.

Wednesday quickly reddened, realizing she had been caught staring, but didn't look away, too entranced by Enid's own red face and teary eyes from laughter.

Wednesday found herself leaning forward slightly, and Enid met her in the middle as their lips connected.

Wednesday hated the definition that a first kiss felt like fireworks, but it was certainly something to finally kiss her girlfriend after dating for weeks.

They pulled away with Wednesday subtly gasping for air, due to having no experience with kissing, unlike Enid. She looked to find Enid staring at her with a flushed face, a lovestruck expression on it.

"Your laugh really is beautiful," Enid repeated. "You're beautiful."

"Not as beautiful as you, mi sol," Wednesday said back, a small smile growing on her face.

"I wouldn't mind doing that again."

"I suppose I wouldn't be opposed either," Wednesday conceded.

And so they kissed again, Wednesday pulling back slightly to lean against the wall. Enid leaned back and rested her head on the seer's chest.

"I love you," Enid whispered.

Wednesday tensed slightly, but it didn't go unnoticed by Enid.

"Y-you don't have to say it back," she stuttered out, suddenly nervous.

Wednesday tightened her grip on the werewolf and buried her face in her hair.

"I love you too," she said softly.

Enid grinned and wrapped Wednesday in the tightest hug she possibly could. Wednesday relaxed into it.

A few moments later, a lightbulb went off in her head. "I just had an idea for my novel," she stated, trying to sit up. Enid stopped her by tightening her grip and growing.

"Your novel can wait," Enid protested. "It's cuddle time."

Wednesday chuckled and leaned back against the wall again, giving in. "I guess it won't kill me to wait."

"You're immortal, Addams. Nothing can kill you."

"Nothing or nobody but you," Wednesday corrected. "Now if you tell anyone about what happened here..."

"You'll flay me alive." Enid said. lifting her head to gently bonk it with Wednesday's own. "Don't worry, love, I won't."

Wednesday closed her eyes in contentment. "My laughter is for you alone."
