Summary:

Enid has a problem, and Wednesday puts a stop to it.

———————————————

Enid knew she was in trouble the moment she returned from class. Wednesday was on her chair, facing the door, a single eyebrow perfectly pitched in unimpressed disbelief.

"Heyyy, Ness! You okay?"

Her eye twitched like it normally did at her nickname, but she didn't break face.

"I'm not Ness. Ness is someone who loves you. You're talking to Wednesday, the person who still loves you, but is also incredibly judgemental of you right now."

Enid kicked the door shut. She hadn't done anything! Her homework was up to date, she was getting good grades, and hadn't even posted one of the many photos of Wednesday relaxing she had to Instagram!

Wait, where's my phone?

A gentle tap drew her eyes to Thing on Wednesday's desk, boggling her mind with how he somehow looked unimpressed too. Now Enid was worried, what had she done? Why were they-

Wednesday raised her phone, the one Thing must've taken without her knowing, eyes never leaving her.

"Thing came to me with some unpleasant information, my dear one. It is unfortunately something I feel I must act on."

How can a hand look so disappointed?

"Wednesday, what-"

With a flurry she pulled papers from her jacket pocket, suspiciously looking like a bill, with the Apple logo on top-

Oh... oh no.

"I can explain-"

She released the paper to float aside, standing and crossing her arms, Thing latching to her shoulder.

"Fifty dollars, thirty two cents. In two weeks. Enid, it's a mobile app."

"It's so annoying to wait for life to fill up!"

"You're addicted to your phone, which is one of the things I have grown to appreciate, if I am concerned about. But this is more serious."

Enid scoffed a little, fully aware Wednesday was right, but not willing to go down without a fight... well, at least attempting one.

"It's not that serious!"

"It could lead to gambling, which is a trait I have refused to find attractive. If you become one, I will be a hypocrite, which is not something we can allow."

She holds out the phone.

"Now, get rid of Austin. For me. Please."

Enid grumbles under her breath, but takes the phone and does as asked. The small purple app vanishes, and Enid releases a breath she hadn't realized she was holding.

"There, can I have my greeting kiss now?"

Wednesday crossed her arms.

"Do you promise not to give your money away to a man named Austin?"

Enid took a step closer, cheeky grin taking over her face as Thing scuttled away.

"That depends, will you kiss me if I say yes."

"Only if you're being sincere."

Enid placed her hand over her heart.

"When am I not?"

"Well, there's the app purchases, the pretending not to like other girls, cheating off Yoko during maths class and both failing, also there was that small incident with-"

Enid rolled her eyes, stepped closer and stopped the slander with a kiss. Wednesday relaxed into her arms and stepped somehow closer, tilting her head to the side to invite her in.

They pull back a hair's breath, both sharing their own expressions of joy, Enid with a grin, Wednesday with a quirk in her lip.

"Can I make it up to you?" Enid teased, and Wednesday allowed herself to smirk.

"You can try."

Thing excuses himself as they meet once more, considering scaring Bianca and Yoko again, which never fails to entertain him.
