Summary:

The second part of The Chosen Family Series. If you haven't read the first part you should. There are a few references in here that won't make sense otherwise.

So, it really shouldn't be a surprise to Wednesday that as soon as she gets close enough Enid throws an arm around her shoulder and continues the conversation as if she had always been here. As if they have always done this.

Wednesday and Enid go on their first date and they have their first sort of fight.

—————-

The rest of the summer had gone by in an uneventful blur. Enid had adapted well to being a part of the Addams family. She gardened with Morticia and cooked with Gomez. On one particularly dreary day she both dyed Pugsley's hair and gave Pubert frosted tips. It was almost worth it to see her parents' faces when the boys sat down for dinner that evening.

Enid had over the last few weeks been slowly but surely moving some of her things into Wednesday's room. The young writer still enjoyed having her own space, but she found her space to be a little more enjoyable when the blond also occupied it. That being said it really doesn't matter how many of her things ended up in Wednesday's room because soon they will need to pack for their return to Nevermore.

Wednesday is going over her mental catalog of everything she will need when Enid comes bursting through her door slightly sweaty from her morning run. She gives her a look that she hopes comes across as irritation but since being fully enveloped by her family's curse she doesn't believe she can manage such looks anymore. At least in regard to Enid.

Enid gives her a wide berth anyway, not even saying a word before grabbing some clothes, dropping a kiss on her forehead and heading to the bathroom. Wednesday is sure that the wolf can hear her traitorous heart over the running water of the shower.

When she's gone over her mental check list twice, she sits down at her desk to write. At least that's what she tells herself. She is absolutely not waiting for girlfriend to get out of the shower so that they can spend time together, absolutely not. That would be absurd.

The thought has just dawned on her that these are going to be their last few days of alone time. Once they're back at school Wednesday will have to compete with everyone else for Enid's attention. Enid has a thriving social life and Wednesday would never ask her to sacrifice that in order to spend time with her.

Her thoughts begin to spiral as she thinks of all the things that will take Enid away from her during the upcoming school year. Wednesday knows most of these thoughts are irrational but it doesn't stop her from fearing the made-up scenarios anyway. She's so far in her head that she doesn't hear the bathroom door open. She also doesn't hear Enid approach her from behind, laying a hand softly on her shoulder.

"Wednesday are you okay?" She finally breaks out of her thoughts and looks into the concerned eyes of her girlfriend. She doesn't want to worry her, she has enough to deal with as is. "I'm fine. Just dealing with a little bit of writer's block, I'm sure it will pass." Enid takes her answer with a little bit of hesitance.

They start packing together later that afternoon, Enid throwing things in suitcases and Wednesday carefully organizing her own belongings.

On the second to last day of summer break Wednesday decides she knows what she must do in order to calm her racing thoughts. They had been dating for a little over a month and yet they had not had an official first date. Sure, they went to the reunion together, but they weren't girlfriends until the end of that night.
