The only sound was the clicking of Thing's fingernails on the stone floor as he followed Wednesday, who briskly marched ahead. Twisting corridors and obscure staircases led her down into the most secluded spot she could find, a damp, unused dungeon that looked like it once served as an ancient version of the lycan cages.

Once she was entirely certain she was out of any possible person's earshot, she said something that surprised even Thing himself:

"I need your help."

The hand signed in surprise.

"Nevermind that. Enid knows I am averse to idle gossip, so she constantly talks to you about her friends' romantic exploits. I want you to tell me who would know how to get her to touch me."

Thing made the sign for 'desire,' teasing Wednesday.

"This is not out of any personal desire for physical affection. Make that implication again only if you want a new addition to your collection of stitches. Now give me names."

Thing made the sign for 'artist.'

"Not Xavier. Asking a favor of him can only lead to incessant questioning."

Thing made the sign for 'fish.'

"Bianca's had one relationship, and it fared about as well as the Hindenburg."

Another sign, 'bees.'

Anyone else might have laughed at that suggestion. Wednesday only stared.

"I won't dignify that with a response. Next."

'Fangs?' A last resort, but clearly a worthy one.

Wednesday gave a thoughtful "Hm," and started pacing.

"You're sure she would know?"

Thumbs up.

"Very well. Now hurry back to the dorm and distract Enid with whatever popular nonsense she may find interesting at the moment. She can't find out where I am."

She started back the way she came, expecting to once again hear the hand's fingernails scraping against the stone floors. Strangely, she heard nothing. She turned around to see her companion obstinately remaining in place, tapping his index finger on the ground. He was clearly waiting for something. Wednesday exhaled loudly.

"Please," She reluctantly implored.

Together, they started back upstairs, before they both went their separate ways. Thing headed back to the dorm, while Wednesday ventured... somewhere she'd never even considered going before.
