To the moon || Luke Hemmings

Chapter 4

'Baby!' Luke screamed through the empty book store.

I smiled, looking up and seeing him walk up to me.

'Hey' I said, stacking the last books on the shelf and walking to the counter to get my bag.

'You ready?' he asked, watching me as I quickly checked my phone.

'I am, are you?' I smiled.

Luke nodded excitedly.

'Finn?' I yelled up the stairs.

I would've walked up the stairs but there were no more costumers and I didn't really feel like walking anymore.

'Yeah?' he yelled back.

'I'm leaving' I said.

'Luke's here already?' he asked, right before dropping something on the ground.

'Shit' he mumbled.

Finn was a very sweet guy but he was also very clumsy.

That's why I usually took care of everything upstairs and he wasted his time downstairs.

I grinned. 'Everything okay?'

Finn showed up at the top of the stairs and nodded, whipping his hands off on his jeans.

'Yeah, I've got it. You can go' he said, walking past me to get the vacuum cleaner and the soap

'Hey! It's good to see you again mate' he said to Luke.

Luke nodded 'its good to see you too, are you sure I can take her?' he asked.

Leaning on top of the counter.

Finn nodded.

'She's pregnant it's not like she can do the cleaning anyway'

'I can do the cleaning. It's  not the best idea to be around chemicals but there's no chemicals in a vacuum cleaner' I protested, unconsciously resting my hand on top of my growing belly.

'Yeah, but I've got it don't worry.' Finn said, already making his way back upstairs.

'Bye!' he smiled.

I laughed and shook my head.

'Bye, I'll see you around!' I said.

I had decided to take a few weeks off so that I could actually spent some time with Luke and to maybe get a little bit of extra rest.

We walked out of the bookstore and sat down in the car, making our way to the hospital.

Today I was having the second ultrasound and with a little bit of luck we'd get to know the baby's gender  as well.

I looked at Luke as he was driving the car.

His hair was different, curlier somehow.

I smiled and watched as he parked the car.

'What did you do with your hair?' I asked, pulling my fingers through it.

'I don't know, I didn't do anything, it just happened'

I grinned. 'you're starting to look like Jack'

'Oh shut up, I don't look anything like Jack'

We got out of the car and walked inside where we were told to wait in the waiting room.

'You are definitely starting to look like him,' I said 'but it's a good thing'

Luke narrowed his eyes and looked at me.

'Are you hitting on my brother now?' he smiled.

'No! that's not what I meant' I laughed 'I was just...never mind' I smiled, kissing his cheek.

'I love you' I said.

'I love you too V' Luke said.

We looked up when the doctor showed up in the door opening.

'Miss Davis?' She said.

I smiled and stood up, dragging Luke behind me.

We followed her inside a room and I sat down in the chair, it was kind of like one of those chairs you have at the dentist, only this one wasn't going to move.

The doctor looked at the computer for a few minutes, reading what she had written down the first time.

'Ah, it's the 20 weeks ultra sound' she smiled.

I nodded and looked at Luke who was carefully watching the doctor as she lifted my shirt up and put some of the gel on my belly.

'Would you like to know the gender?' she asked as she started looking at the baby.

I looked at Luke and he nodded excitedly.

'We do' I smiled.

The doctor nodded and focused back on the screen.

'Let's see if he or she is ready to show it then'
