The night had passed surprisingly fast despite the fact that Luke and I hadn't talked anymore after the fight we had.
I had fallen asleep on the bed and since there was nowhere else for him to sleep, Luke had eventually crawled under the blankets beside me.
This morning was exactly the same and we only talked when we really had to.
'Goodmorning!' Ashton smiled brightly as Luke and I descended down the stairs of the hotel.
'Morning' we replied, both of us showing the guys a fake smile.
'Are you ready to go?' Calum asked as we started walking.
We were going to visit a museum today and we had decided to get up early to make sure it wasn't too busy yet.
The museum was a short walk away from our hotel and we were there within 10 minutes.
The museum looked gorgeous on the outside, with cream white walls and a big garden with perfect green grass.
On the inside, it was just as pretty.
The room was bright because of the massive windows on one side and there was a big dinosaur hanging above the tourist information.
We walked further inside and where met with massive shelves that showed artefacts of the aboriginal culture.
There were little bits of information everywhere, explaining what these artefacts were used for and what they were made of.
There were spears and boomerangs and adzes from different communities.
You could see paintings and photographs and maps, shields and some of the only canoes that are still intact.
This filled up 2 entire floors and we had spent a good 40 minutes just walking passed this.
It always interested me how humans used to live in the past.
The next thing we walked into, was ancient Egypt.
There was a sarcophagus in the middle of the room, a group of people standing around it, looking at it in awe.
We silently joined the group, and I looked at the little bit of information.
I read that the mummy inside was called "Renpit-nefert". She was a 40 year old woman who died because of an acute infection or a chronic illness. The gods painted on her coffin show that they granted her a 'beautiful burial' and on the base of her coffin there was a painting of how the sarcophagus was carried to its final destination.
'So there's literally a mummy inside this thing,' Calum mumbled. 'That's kind of creepy. We're looking at the coffin of a dead human'
I looked at him and nodded 'It's a little weird if you say it like that, but look at all those paintings on top of it. I never understand how people can figure out what it means'
'I think it's just because they've been studying this for so long. It's the same way with us learning a new language. You don't understand anything at first but the longer you keep it going the more you'll know' Ashton said.
I nodded and looked around the room as Calum and Ashton continued their conversation.
Luke was standing right beside me, he was staring at the sarcophagus in front of us without actually seeing it.
My anger had slowly started to subside a little bit and I was just about to snap him out of his thoughts when someone put her hand on Luke's shoulder, immediately causing him to turn around.
The girl smiled at him and nervously asked if she could take a picture with him.
Luke nodded, and the girl stood beside him as her boyfriend took a picture of them.
I looked to my right where Ashton, Calum and Michael had been standing but they had disappeared.
'Could you maybe take a picture with my daughter as well?' the girl asked, pointing to her little 1 year old baby.
I swallowed as Luke nodded and took the baby in his hands.
He was awkwardly standing with the little girl in his arms as the pictures were taken.
Luke looked at the little girl and smiled sadly, taking her little hand in his and moving it around.
Images of him doing the same thing with Lilly's hand filled my imagination as the tears started welling up in my eyes.
It hurt to see him like this and know that he might never hold a baby that is our own.
It hurt to know that if I would've taken better care of myself, he could've been holding our own baby in a few months' time and she would've been healthy and everyone would be happy.
Out of habit, I placed my hand on my now empty belly and swallowed again, fighting back the tears.
I looked at Luke's face, seeing the tears burn behind his eyes as well, probably thinking about the same thing as me.
The couple kept taking pictures of Luke and the little girl and as they kept trying to make her look their way, I felt myself slowly falling apart again and to prevent myself from starting to cry in the middle of a crowded room, I silently walked passed Luke, looking for a restroom to hide in for a while.
I could feel Luke look at me as I walked away and was silently hoping he would follow me and comfort me and try and make me feel better the way he had been the entire week, but he stayed where he was.
He didn't follow me.
