Congratulations! You've safely made it to the Queen Victoria Market.
Now (if you did exactly what we told you to do) neither of you have had breakfast yet so find "American Doughnut Kitchen" and get yourselves a donut for breakfast :)
p.s. HOLD EACH OTHERS HANDS! THAT'S WHAT YOU ALWAYS DO SO DON'T STOP NOW! YOU LOVE EACH OTHER, SHOW IT OFF! NOT EVERYONE IS LUCKY ENOUGH TO DO IT.
'How are we ever going to find that place?' Luke mumbled, looking around to see if he could see anything donut related.
'Well, I guess we should just walk until we see it' I replied, stuffing the letter back inside the bag and looking around as well.
Luke nodded and looked at me, showing me a small, careful smile.
I looked down at his chest, not able to push myself to smile back at him.
Luke didn't say anything and we stood in silence for a few seconds before he sighed and slowly took my hand in his.
I looked up at him, surprised he actually listened to what the letter said, though it would've felt better if he had done it because he wanted to.
'We might not see them but I'm pretty sure they're secretly stalking us to make sure we do exactly as we've been told' Luke explained.
I smiled sadly and nodded. If he could've just left that explanation out, I would've been able to pretend that we were not almost forced into holding hands.
We walked around in silence, neither of us knew what to say to the other so we just looked around until we found the place we were going to be buying our breakfast.
We ordered 4 hot, jam filled donuts.
Because let's face it, everyone wants a second donut after eating the first.
As we waited for them to be ready we watched as someone else filled a new batch of donuts with the jam.
'It's smells delicious' I mumbled as we received our donuts and walked away to let the next person make their order.
We found a little table and sat down on it, eating the donuts in silence.
I hated how we had become so quiet. We used to tell each other everything and talk about random things if there wasn't anything else to talk about.
Of course we had our moments of silence, but they never felt so heavy.
When we had finished eating our incredibly good donuts, we decided to just walk around a little before opening the next envelope.
'Should we...,' Luke started as we were walking around.
He bit his lip as he cut his sentence short, reconsidering his question before continuing it.
'Should we talk? About the things that happened during the last couple of weeks?'
I swallowed, taking Luke's hand in mine as if it was an instinct.
'I don't think so. Not in a crowded place like this.'
Luke nodded understandably.
'But we should talk about it later. Right? I mean, we used to talk to each other about everything and we haven't really talked about anything at all lately'
I nodded and a new silence fell upon us.
'I'm not sure if I can talk about everything though' I said, just loud enough forhim to hear it.
I could feel him look at me before he squeezed my hand reassuringly.
'That's okay. We'll just take it one step at the time,' he said 'But they say talking helps you heal right? So we should talk about it at some point.Whenever you feel you're ready'
I looked up at him and nodded.
I wanted to hug him, just wrap my arms around his waist and press my head against his chest, I wanted him to wrap his arms securely around my shoulders and rest his head on top of mine but I still felt like something was holding me back.
Maybe I was overthinking things, but I couldn't help but feel as if this was too much of a set up.
It felt as if Luke didn't actually want to be here, spending the last day of this road trip re-discovering why he started dating me in the first place.
I noticed how he kept looking around every few seconds, as if he didn't want to be seen with me in public and the little spark of hope I had tried to keep alive since he woke me up this morning, slowly died down again.
