A/N: This chapter is from Michael's POV!
-------
'Hey can I ask you something?' the girl I'd been staring at asked while walking up to me.
I smiled at her and nodded, she had very pretty brown eyes, but she looked at me the way a deer looks into the headlights of a car right before it gets hit by it.
She unlocked her phone and showed me a picture.
'Have you seen this girl?' she asked, her cheeks slowly turning red 'It's my friend and she went after this guy she thought was hot and I decided to get a drink but I can't find her anywhere'
The girl looked at me expectantly but I shook my head.
'I haven't seen her sorry' I said, 'but I'll keep an eye out for her if you want?'
The girl nodded 'Thank you, I'll eh...see you around I guess' she said, her voice barely audible over the loud music that was playing.
I looked at her as she started to walk away.
She had long brown hair that fell perfectly over her back and, accidentally, made me look at her curves that were more prominent than she'd probably want them to be.
But she looked beautiful.
She wasn't wearing anything special, just simple denim shorts combined with a black top, but there was something about her that I didn't quite want to let go of yet.
'Hey,' I said, making her turn around and look at me. I was so bad in these things but I really felt like I had to try, I wanted to talk to her for a little longer.
'Did you at least get yourself that drink you were going to get?' I asked.
The girl smiled and shook her head, looking down at her hands that were fiddling with each other.
I sighed in relief, at least it was already going better than it usually does.
'Can I get it for you then?' I asked.
'I don't know, I should really go find my friend' she said but I could see the doubt in her eyes.
Turns out it comes in quite handy that 2 of your best friends have a girlfriend.
I'd learned to see right through these things.
'She's kind of drunk already and she does stupid things when she's drunk' the girl explained.
'Just one, I'll help you look for your friend afterwards' I tried.
The girl looked at me, biting her lip in hesitation.
'Alright one drink' she said carefully, walking back to me and leaning on the bar.
'One drink' I nodded, ordering here a beer since that's the only thing they had somehow.
'I'm Michael by the way' I said, taking a sip of my own beer that I had completely forgotten about up until now.
The girl grinned and looked at me.
'I know, you're in that band right?' she asked.
'Yes I am' I smiled.
'Yeah I recognized the crazy hair.' She said, carefully looking up at me.
'Oh and I'm Freddie'
I furrowed my eyebrows, thinking I hadn't heard her right.
'Freddie?' I asked.
The girl nodded, looking at her hands that were holding the beer bottle.
'Yes, my name is Freddie,' she said, nervously fumbling around with her hands again.
'I know it's kind of weird, my parents expected to get a boy but I turned out to be a girl and they liked the name Freddie too much to let go of it' she explained.
'Well I like it' I said, smiling at her.
Freddie scoffed and looked at me, not believing a word of what I said.
'It's embarrassing' she said 'And definitely not likeable'
'Why not?' I asked 'It's different and special. If you know our band you probably also know that different is kind of our thing. So different is good.'
Freddie looked at me and smiled 'I mean, I don't know that much about the band, I just happened to know your names and a few songs. But I don't think you're sitting here to talk about that so let's talk about something else'
I nodded, quickly looking at the crowd to find Ashton and Calum still there, dancing and singing like there was no one in the world who could stop them.
'What do you want to talk about then?' I asked, looking at her as she took a sip of her beer and pulled a weird face.
'I don't know, I'm really bad in keeping conversations going.' She answered.
I smiled 'I saw that coming' I grinned.
'What?' she asked. 'That I'm bad in keeping conversations going?'
'No, I meant about you not liking beer'
She looked from me to the beer and then back at me and shrugged.
'It's alright' she said.
'Liar' I said, leaning on top of the bar.
'No really, it's alright.' She said looking at me before adding: 'I've had worse'
I laughed and watched as she took another sip, pulling a weird face again.
'I don't drink beer that much' she said.
'Don't drink it if you don't like it.' I smiled 'I'll get you something else. Although the only other thing they have is water'
'It's fine really' she said.
'Really? you're going to drink all of this?' I asked, knowing that she didn't really want to.
She looked at me and bit her lip.
'Just let me get you something else' I said, sticking my hand out to get the bartender's attention.
'No, seriously, I'm drinking this. You have to learn to drink beer right? So let's do it' she said, pulling my hand back down just in time.
