I sighed dropping our suitcase on the floor.
'Let's unpack everything and cuddle afterwards?' I suggested as Luke showed up behind me with the rest of our stuff.
He stopped walking beside me and nodded, looking around our apartment the same way as I was doing.
It felt empty now. Even though nothing changed inside the apartment, we had changed a little and it felt different.
'Good idea, otherwise we'll probably never unpack everything' he replied, taking both the suitcase and the few bags and dragged them inside our bedroom.
I followed behind him slowly, looking around our apartment as if I was seeing it for the first time.
I walked inside our bedroom where Luke had already opened the suitcase and was taking our clothes out, ready to dump them somewhere around the washing machine to wash later.
He walked out of our bedroom and I grabbed a bag. I took out my make-up bag and our toothbrushes and walked to the bathroom to put them away.
Luke looked at me suspiciously as we met in the hallway but didn't say anything.
I had a strange feeling of being homesick but instead of missing my home, what I missed was the baby that we left behind on the other side of the country.
Sighing, I put our stuff back where it belonged and walked back to our bedroom to get some more things.
'You okay?' Luke asked, looking at me as I quietly grabbed the shower gel and shampoo that were left in the bag. Luke was carrying the other stuff and we walked back to the bathroom.
'Yeah, I'm okay' I said, not really believing it myself.
Luke continued emptying his hands and took the bottles from my hands to put them away.
I walked back to our bedroom as soon as my hands were empty and took the only 2 items that were left in the suitcase. The two tiny pieces of clothing we had bought for Lilly.
'Where do you want to leave those?' Luke asked quietly, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder.
I swallowed away the lump in my throat and shrugged.
'I'm not sure'
'You want to keep them in the bedroom?' he asked, watching me carefully.
I shook my head and blinked away the tears in my eyes.
'It's painful to look at them' I said quietly.
Luke nodded and lifted his head up. He turned me around and took one of the pieces from my hands before taking my empty hand and pulling me out of the bedroom.
I followed him without asking any questions. Knowing he wouldn't answer them anyway.
He walked to the door of our spare room and opened it, walking inside and looking through the piled up boxes.
'What are you doing?' I asked.
Luke opened a box that was standing on the floor and kneeled down in front of it.
'Let's leave them in here until we either have a reason to get them out or we want to get them out' he said, folding the onesie he was holding and carefully placing it inside the box.
I took a deep breath and sat down beside him, folding the onesie I was holding the same way Luke had done and placing it inside the box as well.
We sat in front of it in silence for a little while. Both recalling the few memories we had of her.
'Let's go cuddle on the couch' Luke said softly.
I looked at him and nodded.
We stood up and Luke went to close the box but I stopped him.
I had witnessed one box closing shut with her inside of it, I didn't want to witness closing another box with the things that belonged to her even if she never had the chance to wear them.
'Leave it open' I mumbled.
Luke looked at me worriedly but nodded and lead me out of the room.
He closed the door behind us and walked over to the couch where we laid down.
'How about we watch a movie? Try and find some distraction' Luke suggested and I nodded, not in the mood to talk anymore.
Luke quietly started up Netflix, drawing little circles on my shoulder.
'What movie do you want to see?'
I shrugged 'I don't really care what movie we watch'
'Disney movie?' Luke suggested, knowing Disney movies always made me feel better.
I nodded and tried thinking of a Disney movie. 'Let's watch Aladdin'
Luke nodded and started the movie, turning up the volume a little bit louder than he had to, trying to make it easier for me to focus on the movie instead of my thoughts.
