'We should probably find out what step 2 is' I said, my voice just loud enough to rise above the hundreds of people that were walking around us.
Luke nodded and pulled the backpack off of his back.
We looked for the envelope with a two on it and he handed it to me.
I bet you feel a lot better now that you don't have to walk around with an empty stomach anymore!
For the next step, we need you to walk around the market and buy the weirdest looking vegetable you can find.
I frowned and gave the letter to Luke.
'Why for the love of god do we need to buy a vegetable' Luke mumbled before stuffing the letter in his back pocket.
I smiled and started looking around.
We had already passed the food section so we turned around and walked back to where we came from.
'Do you think we could just go with a weird fruit instead of a vegetable?' Luke asked when we arrived back at the food section.
His hand slipped in mine as we walked passed various types of foods.
'Like this horned melon?' he grinned, taking the odd looking melon in his hand.
I looked at the melon and shook my head.
'We don't know what the other letters say. We're probably going to have to eat it at some point and I'd rather not risk having to eat the skin of that melon because we don't have a knife to cut to the centre'
'Oh right, I didn't think about that' he said as he put the horned melon back where it came from.
'Can we still go for a fruit though? I'd rather eat fruits than vegetables.'
'I guess?' I replied, looking at the different fruits 'What kind of fruit do you want then?'
'I don't know, should we go with the noni fruit? That looks kind of weird.' Luke suggested.
'Or we can go with this' I grinned, pointing at a large, scaly looking fruit.
'Monstera deliciousa' Luke read the name of the fruit 'That sounds like a fucking Harry Potter spell.' He grinned.
I bit my lip to try and bite away my smile and looked at my feet.
'You've never even seen all Harry Potter movies'
Luke looked at me, tugging on his lip ring with his teeth.
'Neither did you'
'Yes I did'
'No you didn't, you kept falling asleep after the 5th movie'
'How would you know? You didn't even make it to the 3rd' I grinned, looking back at the fruits.
'I have my ways' Luke smiled. 'I feel like we should buy the Harry Potter spell'
I nodded and let go of Luke's hand. He paid for the Monstera deliciousa and carefully put it inside our bag.
We continued walking, looking around if we could maybe find some other funny vegetables or fruits to buy, but the other things all looked too normal to talk about.
After we had passed all the food again, we fell back into another silence.
It wasn't as uncomfortable as it was before, but it still wasn't a nice, empty silence.
I noticed how Luke started looking around again and I swallowed.
I followed his gaze to different corners of the market, hoping to find why he was looking around like this but I couldn't really find anything.
Deciding to stop bottling things up the way I always did, I looked up at him and stopped walking.
Luke took two more steps before he noticed I had stopped walking and he frowned.
'What's wrong?' he asked.
'What are you doing?' I asked in return.
'What do you mean?' Luke replied 'I'm doing the same thing as you're doing. We're walking around a market while slowly finishing a scavenger hunt and trying to make each other happy again'
'No, I mean, why do you keep looking around as if you don't want to be seen with me in public' I looked down at my feet as my heart was pounding in my chest, my fingers nervously picking at my nails.
I wasn't sure if I wanted him to answer the question.
Luke was quiet for a second, taking a moment to realize what I was saying before he took both of my hands in his.
'V?' he said, making me look up at him. 'I'm looking around like that because a lot of our fans live in Melbourne and I don't want to constantly be interrupted when we're basically trying to push our relationship out of the downward spiral it's in' he explained before showing me a smile and softly rubbing his thumb over my cheek.
'If there's anyone I want to be seen with in public it'd be you. I'm just trying to keep it with just you for today. You are the only person I want to talk to, no one else. That's why I was looking around like that'
