'Why didn't the doctor just do a C-section?' Ashton asked.
The guys had all shown up about an hour ago and were now awkwardly sitting around, watching me as I went through every single contraction.
'He said she was too far dilated already,' Luke replied, 'He didn't explain anything else, he just went to the next patient'
The guys nodded and the room fell quiet again.
Luke was staring at the floor but he focused back on me when the beeping sound of the ECG starting going faster again.
He held onto my hand tightly as a new contraction washed over me.
'I want to walk' I said quietly, not being able to move because at this point, my entire body felt like it was slowly being torn apart.
'You can't' Luke replied, his voice just as soft as mine.
I shook my head and sat up straight.
'I can't do this anymore I need to walk. I just...I need to get out of this bed, I can't just lay still anymore it's too painful' I rambled, pushing the blankets off of me right before another contraction stopped me from actually getting out of bed.
I gasped and hunched forward, my own hand pressing into my stomach and the other one keeping me from falling over.
'V, listen,' Luke said, taking my hands in his and resting his forehead against mine.
'Everything's okay, you just need to take a deep breath and lay back down alright?'
I shook my head, squeezing Luke's hands tightly as the contraction faded.
At this point, they didn't completely leave anymore I constantly felt them roaming through my stomach and every few minutes it would reach a peak and get worse.
'But it hurts so much' I mumbled so only he could hear it.
'I know it does, I know but whether you stay in bed or start walking it's not going to leave either way'
'But it'll be less painful if I can just walk around the room for a minute' I said, tears slowly filling my eyes as another contraction crawled up my belly and I automatically squeezed in Luke's hands again.
Luke quietly started drawing little circles on my hands, knowing that it always helped me calm down.
'Just breathe V, you can do this. 2 hours have almost passed I'm pretty sure the doctor will show up in a minute to check up on you.'
'Can I please just walk one circle around the room?' I asked quietly, to exhausted because of the pain I have been under the entire day.
'You can't, I'm sorry. You know I'd give you anything in the world but you have to stay in bed, we are only going to put our little girl in danger if you start walking'
I sighed, closing my eyes for a minute.
'Does it hurt less when you sit down like this?' Luke asked, as I started squeezing his hands again, trying the best I could to breathe through the contraction.
'It does a little' I nodded, opening my eyes again.
Luke slowly pulled his forehead away from mine and looked at the bed.
He smiled at me, looked at the door and let go of my hands.
I watched as he sat down right in front of me and took my hands in his again.
He placed his forehead against mine the same way he had a few minutes ago and looked down at our hands.
'You know you're not allowed to do this right?' I asked, somehow managing to show him a little smile.
'Yeah, but I'm a 21 year old guy who still acts like a teenager a lot so...fuck it' he replied, looking at me and placing a kiss against my nose.
Another contraction settled down in my stomach at the same time the doctor walked in and Luke looked at the door.
I had my eyes closed and my knuckles were turning white from squeezing Luke's hands so tight and without caring that Luke had to get off the bed, I softly let my head fall against his shoulder.
I could hear Luke say a quiet: "I'll get off just give me one more minute" before he focused back on me, resting his head against mine and drawing circles on my hands again.
'You still breathing?' Luke asked.
I nodded, releasing the breath I didn't realize I was holding.
'Liar' Luke grinned.
Taking a few more breaths, the contraction faded again and I let go of Luke so he could get off the bed.
'Alright, from the looks of it everyone is still doing good,' the doctor smiled while looking at the baby's and my own heartbeat. 'Can you lay down for me?' she asked.
The other doctor that I had before was done with his shift and I was actually kind of glad about that since the one I had now was a woman.
I nodded and carefully laid down on the bed, wiping the sweat of my forehead as I took Luke's hand in mine again.
'Let's see if you're ready'
