'What is it with us and going up in the air?' I asked, looking at the hot air balloons that were stretched out on the floor in front of us.
'I don't know' Calum grinned.
'It's safe though, we checked. Nothing's going to happen to the baby' Ashton said, draping his arm around my shoulders.
I looked up at him and nodded.
'But that doesn't take away the fact that I'm kind of scared' I smiled innocently.
'Nothing's going to happen V, don't worry' Calum said.
I nodded, focusing back on Luke and Michael who were running around like little kids.
One of the co-workers walked up to us and introduced himself as Richard. He started explaining how we were supposed to get in the hot air balloon and Michael and Luke joined us a few minutes after he had started talking.
The basket we had to get into was lying on its side, and we had to climb in it that way.
He showed us the best way to lay down in the basket, both for when we were going up and going down.
By the time he was done and told us to get in the basket, I was so nervous I could feel my legs shaking and I was very close to telling the guys I wouldn't join them.
Until Luke was standing beside me and took my hand in his.
'You ready?' he asked, smiling widely.
I grinned and shook my head, watching as Michael clumsily climbed in the basket.
'I'm actually really scared' I mumbled, letting go of Luke's hand and wrapping my arms around his waist instead.
'You don't have to go in if you don't want to you know that, right? I'll stay down here with you' Luke said, kissing the top of my head.
'I know, I want to know what it looks like though, I guess I'm just a little scared because of the baby. And because we're going really, really high up in the air this time'
'Yeah. I know it's probably not going to make you feel any better but we're going to be perfectly fine. And the baby will be fine too,' Luke said, looking around us to make sure no one could hear us before adding: 'She can handle this because she's got a very punk rock mom to help protect her'
I laughed, looking down at the dress I was wearing 'Right, a very punk rock mom who's wearing a dress with butterflies and flowers on it'
Luke smiled, taking my hand and carefully helping me inside the basket.
'Flowers and butterflies can be very punk rock, you're proving that right now'
I grinned and shook my head, taking a deep breath to try and calm down my nerves.
When I was safely inside the basket, Luke climbed in as well and before I realized it, the basket was up straight and we were flying.
We had to lay down in the basket to make sure it was completely protecting us and we all had a separate square of space, meaning we couldn't walk around.
The pilot told us it was safe to come up a few minutes later and we all carefully got up.
I was standing in between Luke and Ashton and they were both already enjoying the view when I finally got up.
Luke looked at me and smiled, holding out his hand for me to take.
I took it without having to think about it twice, my other hand tightly gripping the side of the basket.
We were flying around for what felt like hours, constantly going up higher and higher.
'This kind of feels like old times' I said, looking at Luke.
He nodded and smiled in excitement.
'I was thinking the exact same thing' he said.
I looked at the view we had, it was completely different from the view we had in New Zealand but it felt the same.
Right now we could see the tops of the trees and we could see the Tasman sea, the coral sea and if you looked a little further, you could see the pacific ocean on the horizon.
Everything was blue on one side because of all the water and there was mostly green on the other side.
You simply felt free while looking at this and that's what reminded us of our first road trip.
Just the way you could say anything and do anything without anyone noticing and how you had this beautiful view that you could look at forever without getting bored.
That's what we had back in New Zealand and that's exactly what we had right now.
I knew that I made the right decision to get in the basket despite the fact that it scared me.
To me, this was the definition of freedom and I wouldn't miss it for the world.
