'Come on V,' Luke said, taking my hand in his.
'Please come snorkelling with me'
I smiled, looking at the water.
I had been sitting in the sun for a while but it got too hot so I found a place in the shadow.
Sadly that wasn't helping very much and the fact that I was pregnant suddenly annoyed me like crazy since it only seemed to make things worse.
'It'll cool you down come on' Luke said again, pulling my up of the bench and dragging me back into the sun.
'I don't want to go in' I mumbled.
Cooling down sounded like a dream come true at this moment but being pregnant heightened your emotions, just like when you're drunk.
Normally I would only be a little scared, but not enough to stop me from doing it, but now that I was pregnant my fear was definitely stopping me from going in the water.
I didn't like that you had nothing to stand on.
'Yes you do, I know you want to go in just like you knew I really wanted to go scuba diving so we're going' Luke said, making sure not to let go of my hand as he took 2 snorkels and 2 goggles and walked to the end of the boat where there was a small ladder.
Luke looked at me as I attached the snorkel to the goggles and placed them on top of my head.
I knew there was no way I was going to get out of this so I might as well just try and push away my fear.
'You're going to be fine' Luke said, softly taking my chin between his thumb and index finger and placing a kiss against my lips.
'I'll jump in first and help you alright?'
I nodded, looking at Luke's ring around my finger.
I wiggled it off, my finger instantly feeling as if I had been suffocating it and it finally got to breathe again.
'Can you keep this safe for me?' I asked Michael as Luke jumped in the water.
He nodded as I gave him the ring.
'No problem,' he said, smiling at me 'Go have fun'
I smiled and nodded, walking to the ladder and sitting down on the edge.
The water was incredibly nice and cool as it touched my legs and I unconsciously sighed in relief, as if I had been on fire and it was finally starting to burn out now.
'Come on gorgeous' Luke said.
I looked at him as he kept his head above the water, his eyes squinting against the sun and his hand stretched out to take mine. I wasn't scared anymore at that point, because I remembered all the other times that we went swimming and how he promised he wouldn't let me drown and he would keep me safe, and I knew that was exactly what he intended to do now.
I took his hand in mine and let myself fall into the water, holding my belly with the hand that was left as if that was going to help me protect our baby.
Luke's bright smile was the first thing I saw when I came back up.
'That's a lot better right?' he said, making sure to not let go of my hand unless I wanted him too.
I smiled and nodded, looking at the boat behind me.
'Let's go that way' Luke said, pointing to our right.
We swam away from the boat and I felt my body finally cooling down.
We put our goggles over our eyes and looked at the ocean beneath us.
There were no words to describe exactly what I saw or how beautiful it was.
There was a lot of coral in different shapes and sizes and colors, there were little "hills" scattered all around the place, functioning as the perfect hiding place for the fishes.
The fishes were bright colored and swam everywhere, making their way through the coral and around it, looking for food or shelter or both.
It was by far one of the most beautiful things I had ever seen.
We swam around for a while longer until we had to go back to the boat.
'That was pretty cool right?' Luke said as we came closer to the boat.
I nodded excitedly 'That was beautiful. I can't believe I almost missed out on that'
We swam to the back of the boat and I carefully climbed up the little ladder, Luke following close behind me.
