Chapter 31: Kyojuro Rengoku: Flame Hashira

"So we are looking for the flame hashira. Shouldn't be too hard since he should stick out." You said while walking through the train, remembering the fiery hair that would give him away.

"I can't believe I'm inside the belly of the beast!!!" Inosuke was energetic and chaotic, barging through people who were sat down trying to enjoy the journey.

He opened the windows and stuck his head out as Zenitsa tried her hardest to keep him inside the train.

"Stop being such an idiot!!! You'll fall out of the train if you keep doing that!!!" She was definitely fighting a losing battle as Inosuke was thrashing around to try and get her to let go.

"UMAI!!!"

A loud voice echoed through the carriage you were in from the next one. It made you jump, but you could already tell that it was Rengoku.

"Yep, that's him alright. Come on." You gestured for everyone to follow as you lead Aira by the hand.

"UMAI!!!"

"UMAI!!!"

"UMAI!!!!"

The closer you got to the shouting, the more people you came across with looks of confusion and a little bit of fear laced with it.

However, the shouts of 'UMAI' did not stop. Not even when you were stood right beside the flame hashira, trying to get his attention.

"E-Excuse me Mis-." You began, but were cut off when Rengoku turned to you.

"UMAI!!" He yelled again causing you to jump.

"Y-yeah we heard you....and the other fifty times as well." Tanjiro said nervously whole rubbing the back of his head. "W-we've been sent to join you on your mission!"

There was a huge pile of bento boxes on the seats all around the flame hashira, which you had to move to be able to sit down with him.

It was a relief to be able to put the basket with Mukago in it down at your feet for a little while. Thankfully, she had hardly moved at all which made it easy to carry her around.

You weren't sure if she was just too scared to move or she might've just fallen asleep.

Speaking of scared, Aria made sure she was right next to you holding your hand tightly. You could feel her shaking a little bit ever since you got closer to the flame hashira.

You weren't surprised though. Being a demon this close to a hashira of the demon slayer corps must be terrifying.

"L/N!! IT IS GOOD TO SEE YOU AGAIN!!" The booming voice of Rengoku startled you so much that you almost fell off your seat and onto the floor.

As you regained your composure and pulled yourself up again, you could hear him laughing loudly.

"MY APOLOGIES LAD!! I DID NOT MEAN TO STARTLE YOU!!!" He said before continuing to chuckle afterwards.

"Y-yeah it's....good to see you again too Mister Rengoku." You smiled awkwardly and rubbed the back of your head. "Does he always speak this loud? Ah who am I kidding? It's nice to have someone so full of energy on a mission for once!"

"TELL ME! HOW HAS YOUR TRAINING BEEN GOING UNDER KOCHO?! AND I HEAR THAT YOU ARE TRAVELLING WITH DEMONS NOW TOO!!" His voice never changed pitch nor tone, as did his facial expressions.

"Well....the training has been going well! Miss Kanae is a great teacher and I can feel myself becoming stronger everyday!" You beamed proudly, wanting already to prove to another hashira that your training was paying off.

"As for travelling with demons....it's kinda a long story." You said, your smile fading and your hold on Aria's hand tightening to reassure her.

"Go ahead! I am not entirely sure how long it'll take for the demon to show up! We could be travelling for a long while!" The flame hashira lowered his voice a little now, probably because many of the passengers in the carriage were starting to get slightly annoyed and were giving you all looks.
