Chapter 36: You'll Amount To Something Great

When your eyes opened again, you found yourself staring up at a wooden ceiling. You laid there, blinking every so often for a few moments.

A little confused, you slowly sat up and panned your head from side to side. Your surroundings becoming more and more familiar by the second.

Once you realised where you were, you clicked your fingers. "I'm back at the butterfly mansion! Hold on....how did I get here?"

"The ever hard working kakushi brought us all back!" A loud voice caught you off guard as you nearly leapt out of your bed in surprise.

"Ah do forgive me young Y/N! I did not mean to startle you!" It was Rengoku, being as cheerful as ever.

You had to do a double take and rub your eyes a few times. "Mister....Rengoku?"

"Yes it is me! Everyone is okay don't worry! They are all busy right now!" He said as you rubbed your head.

There were bandages wrapped all around his head and over his left eye.

"Doing what?" You asked.

"Training!" He said. "The butterfly girls are helping them!"

"I see....wait how long have I been asleep?" You asked, feeling confused.

"Three days! The mission really took its toll on you in the end! But you still stood up to that upper moon with me! You....saved my life." His smile got wider, if that was even possible.

"Thank you." He said after a short pause.

You remained silent for a few moments before lifting yourself out of your bed and making your way slowly over to him.

Once you got there, you bowed. "I was simply returning the favour. You protected me when the demon first came. I wasn't about to let you die. Especially since we saved everyone else."

You clenched your fists tightly. "I won't let anyone else die....I promise you that...."

Rengoku's smile softened as he reached out and gently pat your head. "You have tremendous courage! Not only that, but you are a skilled swordsman! Kocho was right to take you under her wing and help train you!"

"I am....very lucky. I will do all I can to repay her effort and faith." You stated firmly.

"I know you will." He said while taking his hand away. "You'll amount to something great Y/N. All of you will."

You smiled and nodded. "I know we will."

As you finished talking, the door to the room slid open and you turned to see your friends walk in.

Immediately upon seeing you, Tanjiro ran over and threw his arms around you tightly. Never wanting to let go.

He was followed by a wailing Zenitsa who clung to you just as tight while Inosuke yelled loudly, saying that you shouldn't have made them worry like they had been.

"I....apologise you three. I don't mean to make you worry. I'm okay though....we're all okay." You wrapped your arms around them, managing to get Inosuke in there too and just hugged them for a while.

Later on, you went outside mainly to get some fresh air. But you were also trying to find Himari.

Tanjiro had told you that the Kocho sisters were more than happy to take her in and she even started helping out around the mansion a little.

Right now, you could see her helping Aoi with the laundry. Smiling, you went over to go and say hi.

"Hey Aoi." You said causing the girl to jump and turn around, nearly dropping the sheet she was folding in the process.
