"How are you faring now?" Tanjiro asked you while the two of you were sat outside, enjoying the warmth of the sun.

It was an incredibly nice day, a few clouds littered across a near perfect blue sky. These kinds of days are were some of the best for many different reasons. They provided an opportunity for you to just forget about fighting demons even if it was just for a little while.

"Much better now. Leg and shoulder are still healing, but they may never fully heal anyway. Not that it matters since I'm still able to fight." You said as Tanjiro nodded.

"Hey, have you managed to just sit down and comprehend what we're been through? I mean properly." You asked which got Tanjiro thinking.

There had not been many opportunities for either of you to sit down and think. You had both taken the decision to leave home and go out on the adventure to become demon slayers, without really giving it any second thought.

"I don't think so...we've been on the move practically the whole time. The last time I got to properly think about what we were doing was probably back when we were with Urokodaki." Tanjiro said.

"That's true. I remember that year we spent on the mountain...that was really tough. I wondered sometimes whether or not I made the right choice running away from everything like that." You replied, looking up at the sky while taking deep breaths.

"Everyone back home thinks I'm dead. Probably think you're dead as well since they likely sent people up the mountain to check on your family." You said.

"Yeah...I wonder how Mister Saburo is doing right now. He tried stopping me from going back home, but I ignored him. What would've happened if I had listened to him?" Tanjiro asked.

You weren't sure if his question was meant to be rhetorical or not, because the boy did seem deep in thought as well when you glanced at him. Nevertheless, you decided to answer his question anyway.

"You would've eventually gone back up there anyway. I just don't think Nezuko would be alive right now if you had delayed." You said, gaining his attention.

"Mister Tomioka was in the area and likely would've made his way to your house had he not run into you and Nezuko. Without you there, he probably would've killed her." You continued on, Tanjiro nodding the whole time.

"You're right. I'm lucky I got there when I did. I might not have been able right save the rest of my family...but I gave Nezuko a chance to keep on living." He said.

"That's what's important. Though we owe our lives to Mister Saburo. If either of us went home that night...we would be dead. When all this is over and Muzan has been defeated, we should go back and find Mister Saburo. Just to thank him for what he did by letting us stay the night in his home." You suggested to Tanjiro.

It was a suggestion that was very popular with the boy who nodded his head ecstatically at your idea.

"Glad you're so on board with the idea. I can also put some more personal demons to rest as well by visiting my mother's grave." You said, trailing off.

"...my name is on that gravestone too. Shinobu told me that my dad mentioned that when he first found me here after he woke up." You continued on.

"I should've been at her burial...I should've been there." You repeated.

"That's still eating away at you, huh?" Tanjiro asked, remembering how you beat yourself up over it back when the two of you were training under Urokodaki.

"You've been keeping that down haven't you? You shouldn't have done that." He said, feeling disappointed that you didn't take the chance to properly talk about it.
