Chapter 62: Nezuko's Memories

You ran as fast as you could to try and make up as much ground as you possibly could. Genya had gone way ahead, meaning you and Tanjiro had some catching up to do.

Not only that, but you had four demons on your tail as well.

"Come on....need to be faster....everything depends on it....." You thought.

You were still carrying Nezuko, despite the fact that the demon girl had already recovered from her wounds.

She was watching you intently as you ran, staring right up into your face. This all suddenly triggered something in her mind, which made her eyes widen and caused her to let out a muffled gasp.

A young Nezuko sat in the middle of an open field. She sniffled slightly as she held onto her leg which had a nasty looking bruise on it.

"Hurt yourself, huh?" A voice came from beside her.

She turned her head and saw you taking a seat on the grass next to her. You looked so much more innocent and full of joy back then.

"Y-Y/N!" She said as you smiled and waved at her.

"Hey Nez! You doing okay? Other than the nasty bruise on your leg." You asked her as she looked back down at her leg sadly.

"I tripped....." She said.

You let out a chuckle and gently pat her on the head.

"Well when you run around without a care in the world, then that's bound to happen. There's always a pesky rock that's just there in the middle of the path. Or perhaps an outstretched tree root that you failed to spot." You said as you rubbed her head.

"Where Tanjiro? I didn't expect him to let you be here on your own." You said.

"Onii-Chan is back at home. I maybe....snuck out." She said.

"Tch. He's not gonna be happy with you when you get back!" You said.

"Don't worry though, I'll make sure he goes easy on ya!" You said with a wink, which made her giggle.

"I sometimes....wish he wasn't so overprotective of me. I can handle myself!" She pouted.

You looked at her and raised an eyebrow.

"While I don't doubt that, you do realise that's what an older sibling is for right? He's overprotective of you because he loves you dearly!" You said to her.

"He would do anything for you! Don't ever forget that." You said.

"Maybe you're right...." She responded as she hugged her knees up to her chest, wincing a little as she lifted her wounded one up.

"That bruise does look really nasty.....we should get you back home." You said while standing up and offering your hand to her.

She nodded and took your hand, letting you pull her up. However when she got to her feet, she stumbled which meant you had to catch her.

"Woah! Yeah you really have hurt yourself bad, huh?" You said with concern.

"I'll carry you back then. That alright?" You asked.

"Y-yeah! That's alright...." Nezuko said, feeling slightly embarrassed.

You nodded and gently lifted her up and started to carry her back home. As you walked back up the hill to the Kamado's house, you smiled at the girl.

"You certainly ran quite far down the hill! What made you wanna go down that far?" You asked.

"W-well I.....I knew that sometimes you and Tanjiro sit around in that field after he's been in town...." She said.
