Chapter 37: After So Long

"How are you feeling now?" Shinobu asked you as she checked you all over as part of her medical examination on you.

"M-Much better. Thanks." You replied, blushing a little. She was always so methodical and gentle with her examinations.

"That is good. It always makes me more than happy to know when my patients are back to feeling their best again." She gently cupped your cheek with her and stroked it delicately, making you blush deeper.

"And especially when that patient interests me so much...." Her smile widened as she leaned close and gently placed a kiss on your cheek.

"W-well u-uhm...." You stopped yourself for a moment to recompose yourself before continuing.

"Its a bonus when the person taking care of me is as beautiful as you...." You blushed more and avoided Shinobu's gaze before you heard her giggle.

"What a charmer~....you're too kind Y/N-Kun~." She patted your cheek gently and gave you a soft kiss on the lips.

"H-Heh....couldn't resist it." Your smile grew as you gently wrapped your arms around her. An action she reciprocated soon after.

"Just....please don't do anything so foolish again. You had courage to stand up to an upper moon like that. But it was nearly suicidal. Next time you might not be so lucky." Shinobu warned, her voice and face becoming stern.

"I-I know but...after all the people we saved....the mission would've felt like a failure if Rengoku died. I can't sit to the side and let demons take more people away from me! That's our jobs as demon slayers." You argued back.

Shinobu sighed and nodded her head. "My point still stands Y/N. You can't die on us so quickly. You're starting to get quite popular around here."

Her soft smile and voice were back again, making your blush come back too.

"Run along now though. I have work to do." She moved away from you and ushered you out of the room.

You complied and started leaving room as you didn't want to disrupt her. "Okay! Thanks so much Shinobu! I....really appreciate you taking care of me!"

"It's my pleasure Y/N-Kun!~ See you later!~" She smiled sweetly at you waved as you closed the door to her office.

As you walked back to the room where you and your friends were staying, a random tray came flying out of the room and nearly hit you in the face but you narrowly managed to dodge it.

"RAAAAAHHHH!!! GET OVER HERE AND FIGHT ME ALREADY GONPACHIRO!!!!" Inosuke screeched at the top of his lungs.

Tanjiro looked to be trying to calm him down and was shielding Zenitsa who clung to you once she saw you in the doorway of the room.

Aoi was there too, seemingly there to check out what the noise was.

"I can only guess what's happened here." You sighed as you pat the blonde haired girls head gently to try and calm her down.

"Yep. Nothing that doesn't happen normally." Aoi groaned and rolled her eyes.

"Inosuke! Tanjiro is still recovering from his injury! Stop trying to get him to fight you! At least have the decency to wait until he's fully healthy again!" You called out to the boar headed boy who turned his head to look at you.

"Tch. Does he even know what the word decency means?" Zenitsa mumbled as you lightly tapped her head.

"Shhh. Don't be mean." You muttered back as she looked up at you and nodded.

"THEN WHY DON'T YOU FIGHT ME INSTEAD!!!" He roared and began charging over to you.

Zenitsa panicked and let go of you, scrambling away to safety. You braced yourself for the oncoming crazy boar and held him back by his shoulders as he squirmed and yelled.
