Chapter 53: In Need Of A New Sword

"I noticed that I didn't actually have a sword anymore. I'm not exactly sure how I lost it, but it must've been while I was unconscious in the entertainment district." You said while enjoying a cup of tea that had been provided by the butterfly girls.

You had been doing your rehabilitation training with Tanjiro ever since he woke up, the both of you determined to be fighting ready as quickly as possible after recovering from your wounds.

"I was out for quite a while and haven't been given any hints that I have a replacement? Is one actually coming?" You asked the girls who all froze up and squeaked a little when you asked the question.

"Y-your swordsmith is Mister Haganezuka right?" Kiyo asked.

"Yes he is." You replied, already kind of seeing where this was going.

"W-Well....Mister Tanjiro did get a few letters from him. Would you like to see them?" She asked as you and Tanjiro both nodded your heads.

Sumi quickly scurried off and brought in a small pile of letters moments later and set them down in front of Tanjiro.

From the moment he picked the first one up and you caught a glimpse of what was written, your suspicions were confirmed.

"He's....very annoyed." You said as Tanjiro sighed and bowed his head.

"I only chipped my sword this time too....I know I broke my first one and then lost my second....but this time wasn't nearly as bad!" He said as you gently pat him on the back.

"Well you know he is very passionate and takes a lot of pride in his work. That's why he chased you for hours the last time." You said while taking a sip of your tea.

"Still he could've sent me one! This is the first time I've lost my sword! Guess he's just not in the mood right now. He's too mad." You said.

"You could very easily go and visit him in the swordsmith village!" Kiyo said.

"We can? Where even is the swordsmith village?" You asked.

"No one knows! What happens is a kakushi will pick you up from here and take you a certain distance before passing you on to another kakushi! This is done several times over, so no one knows exactly how to get there! Even the crow that guides the kakushi is changed each time!" Kiyo explained as you nodded your head and took another sip from your tea.

"Huh.....that's pretty clever!" You said with a smile before placing your now empty cup on the small table that kept the teapot.

"Mhm! We can easily ask Miss Shinobu or Miss Kanae to call for the kakushi to take you both!" Sumi said.

"Sure! Thanks girls!" You thanked them and got three smiling faces as a response.

You continued your rehabilitation training for a little while, before eventually finishing for the day.

You headed back to your room to rest for a little while, until you heard a knock at the door which made you sit up.

"Oh hey Shinobu." You said as you waved at the insect hashira.

"Hello Y/N-Kun! Kiyo tells me that you and Tanjiro are going to the swordsmith village!" She said as she walked over and sat on the bed next to you.

"Yeah we both need new swords and our swordsmith is....not in the best mood I don't think." You chucked and rubbed the back of your head.

"I see. Well I understand that this is very important, but I could very easily send a message to get your sword reforged immediately by a different swordsmith! You've only just recovered from your injuries and if something happens out there....you're not exactly fighting fit." She said, obviously concerned.
