Chapter 49: Time To Go Home

The closer you to Uzui and his wives, the clearer the extent of his injuries were. He had bandages wrapped around his head, his left eye, and his left hand.

Though he sounded pretty upbeat as he talked and embraced his wives.

"M-Mister....Uzui....." You called out to him as you got close enough.

He lifted his head and a smile spread across his face.

"You're alive! Kamado thought that....you had died." He said as you came to a stop just in front of him, falling onto your knees as your leg gave way.

"....y-yeah I....thought you all had died too...." You said while lifting you head to look at him.

"You're looking really unflashy! How bad are your injuries?" His voice lowered in concern.

"Got stabbed in the leg.....had a sickle thrown into my shoulder.....took a few tumbles of roofs...had kunai shot at me too.....plus I am really tired...." You sighed deeply.

"I'm....sorry about the kunai. I was trying to help out and hit the demon. I-I didn't mean to get in the way....let alone hit you with kunai...." The woman from before with the long ponytail.

"It's okay....I-I know you were helping....I was just in the way.....the kunai did actually help." You smiled at her.

"You're....Hinatsuru right?" You asked as she nodded her head.

"You saved my life. Thank you." She bowed her head in gratitude.

"Y-You're welcome...." You could feel the fatigue starting to set in again as your breathing began to slow.

"You helped me save my wives....you threw yourself into danger to make sure they weren't harmed....you have my deepest gratitude...." He placed his hand on your head.

"Thank you....your determination to stay and help....saved their lives....and probably mine too...." He gently rubbed your head, his smile widening as he did so.

"So....the demon. Did you manage to kill it? I....did my best but....that poison got to me in the end....had to stop my heart to prevent the spreading. Still managed to end up losing my eye and hand...." He said.

"W-Well uhm....a-about that..." You began, clearing your throat before continuing.

"They....uhm....they're....nice now....? They'll....help me fight the demons....because I promised that I would offer them a cure and make them human again...." You said.

"Really now? Well if that's the case....you seem to have turned into quite a demon whisperer haven't you?" He chuckled a little.

"The corps are....not gonna be entirely happy about this....but I'll....do my best to support you...." He pat your head and removed his hand.

"R-Really? Th-that....easy? I...thought you'd....react differently...." You said.

"Well I can see that you've had an effect on some of the demons you've encountered so far. So...I can see what you're saying being true." Uzui replied.

Hearing that gave you some relief, but you knew that yet again you would have to prove everything to the rest of the corps.

Plus, Kanae and Shinobu would probably not be too happy having another two demons at the mansion, let alone them being upper moons.

But you would have to worry about that later.

You nod your head and let the fatigue take over your body. Your eyes closed and you fell forward, being caught by Uzui.

"WAAHHH!!! I-IS HE DEAD?!" Suma wailed before receiving a slap on the back of the head by Makio.

"SHUT UP SUMA!" She barked.
