Chapter 55: Mitsuri Kanroji: Love Hashira

"Wow! That is really impressive!!" Tanjiro exclaimed as he admired the sheer amount of food that Mitsuri had consumed.

"You think so? I really only nibbled today!!" She responded, holding her hands up near her face as her cheeks went slightly pink.

You sat there in between them both, listening to their conversation while eating your food.

"How are you even able to eat that much food? It...really is quite incredible." You added with a smile.

"All my life I've just been such a huge eater! I love eating and cooking food! Recently, I've really gotten into more western dishes! Perhaps one day, I could cook some for you!" She suggested with a sparkle in her eyes.

"S-sure! That sounds really nice." You replied.

"Oh by the way, the guy who ignored you earlier on at the hot springs is Genya Shinazugawa." You said.

"Shinazugawa? So he is related to the wind hashira. Funny....Sanemi always says he doesn't have a little brother...." Mitsuri frowned a little.

"Hmm!" Nezuko made a small noise as she popped up from under the table and shuffled to Mitsuri.

"Hmmm?~ What is it Nezuko?~" The love hashira giggled and she gently grabbed the small demon and began to tickle her.

"There are five of us siblings in my family! We all get along really well! So when I saw those Shinazugawa brothers I thought, 'They seem pretty scary!'." She said as she gently took Nezuko's hands in hers.

"Yeah I vaguely remember the wind hashira....he was quite intimidating. And Genya has changed so much since we passed final selection..." You said, remembering back to when you were brought in front of all the hashira.

"I remember when Kanae-San introduced you to all of us! You haven't changed too much! You're still just as adorable!!" Mitsuri swooned as you blushed.

"A-Ahaha....Miss Kanroji....." You grumbled as you heard her giggle and gently rub your head.

"I'm being serious! Speaking of serious....you've been through a lot since that meeting right? I was told all about your missions." She said, her expression changing slightly.

"I haven't had the chance yet to thank you for saving Rengoku." Her arms wrapped around you and she pulled you closer.

"Thank you....I was so relived when I heard the news. Rengoku is like a big brother to me you see....and he was the one who trained me!" She explained, smiling the whole time as tears welled up in her eyes.

"....you're welcome. We had made such an effort to save all the passengers on the train....I couldn't let him die. We are stronger together!" You said causing Mitsuri to nod.

"Yeah! You're right!" She cheered and squeezed you a little tighter before letting go.

At that moment, the door to the room slid open and in came a group of villagers. All of them were holding a tray full of desserts.

Presumably, there was quite a few trays as they knew that Mitsuri was bound to still be really hungry.

"Kyaaa!!! Dessert is here!! And there is sooooo much sakura mochi!!!!" She held her face with glee as the trays were set down for her to start digging in.

You were just about able to grab some dessert as well before it all disappeared and was consumed by the love hashira.

"Genya still hasn't come down to eat." Tanjiro mentioned as you were all eating dessert.

There was an empty spot on the opposite side of the table where Genya was meant to be. His tray of food had remained untouched.

"Wonder where he went. He really doesn't want to be around anyone I guess." You shrug.
