You ran as fast as you could not really knowing who or what exactly you were looking for. But at this moment in time, you were just trying to find a way to wake up from this dream.
The temptation of laying down and staying in this dream was still there, but you were doing a good job at suppressing it well.
You stopped after a little while to take a breather and to calm yourself down. "Running around blindly won't help at all...."
After a little while, you crouched down close to the ground and gently laid your fingertips on the surface.
Closing your eyes, you took deep breaths in and out trying to feel if there was anything that stood out to you.
A little while passed and you got nothing. But you had grown patient over your years of training.
At one time you might've been getting frustrated by now, but you had been taught by two people whose maturity and calmness was very influential.
And eventually it all paid off.
"Gotcha!" You exclaimed before darting off from where you were. You ran for a little while before leaping forward and colliding into someone, sending the both of you tumbling into the ground.
As soon as you stopped rolling, you looked down to see that you had leapt right into a girl younger than you. Her eyes jammed shut and she was shaking a little.
She had long straight brown hair and was wearing a plain kimono.
You noticed her hands were tightly clasped together as well, like she was hiding something.
"Who are you?" You asked sternly keeping your guard up.
"....y-you weren't meant to realise....h-he promised us that you wouldn't realise...." She responded, terrified.
Seeing and hearing how she responded made you ease up a little. "Who did? Who is he? And what have you got in your hands?"
The girl was unmoved and clenched her hands together tighter.
"Are you being threatened? The person who made you do this is a demon isn't he?" You sighed and sat up, releasing her.
"Whatever he promised you, do not believe him. If he really is a demon, then he'll most likely betray you." You said just to be met by silence for a little while, before the girl opened her mouth to speak.
"H-How do you know?" She slowly opened her eyes to look at you.
"Because I can see how scared you are....how desperate you are. In your position....I'd understand why you'd trust just anyone." You sighed.
"Please....I promise you that I can help you. You don't have to be scared anymore....." You waited a little while for her answer.
Eventually, you watched her hands loosen up and a sharp needle dropped from them onto the ground. Tears brimmed the edges of the girls eyes as she sniffled.
"H-He promised us....good dreams....that we would be able to be happy at last...." The tears slowly began to fall down her cheeks.
"Hey....it's okay. If you place your trust in me, I will protect you. Nothing and no one will hurt you. Okay?" You tried to reassure the girl who still seemed really unsure.
"...f-fine...." She wiped her eyes and looked up at you. "W-Will I....still be able to be happy again? W-Will I still be able to have good dreams?"
"I'll do my best for you....you have my word." You smiled and enveloped the girl in a hug.
She froze up at first, but after a little while the feeling of warmth began to encompass her.
Something she had not felt in a long time.
